Can't complain about the hotel. staff were polite and friendly and it was a reasonable stay. Like a lot of hotels around the UK, they do look tired . the communal areas such as the reception and bar were ok and so where the rooms but could do with a makeover. Something to note, like other hotels, parking is awkward and you may not be able to park outside the hotel.

Location and staff good, outlook not great due to semi demolished hotel across road. Hotel a bit rundown tatty, dated but it is clean, also offered free breakfast but not available when I stayed. I don't think it was worth what I payed to stay.

Afton Hotel was a very pleasant surprise - the cleanest hotel I have been in in Eastbourne for the last three years. Staff were great - very obliging and friendly. Food was delicious - especially the “full English” breakfast. I didn’t quite understand why the Continental breakfast was the same price (‘£10) as the full English - shouldn’t it be less ? The Aftor is very good value. I will definitely stay here again when I am in this area.

Lovely clean hotel . Room comfortable . Staff really friendly helpful. Breakfast a bit expensive £12 per person bit basic could do with a coffee machine as coffee was cold full English was tasty no yogurt fruit . Overall really nice stay good price ideal location opposite pier

The hotel was ok but in desperate need of a facelift. Booked bed and breakfast but no breakfast on the last morning. Room ok but both bathroom door and windows need replacement especially the windows.

Nice clean and bright room, housekeeping carried out daily, friendly staff , but the hotel itself could do with a bit of TLC otherwise very good

It was a great price, clean, friendly helpful staff. Am hoping to go back over Christmas, but looks like pretty full up ! Perfect for me, solo travelling usually. Near beach and station. Would recommend if you need the perfect base, but not if you want 5 star hotel with all the frills and extras. 10/10 from me ! :-)

This hotel is somewhat run-down, maybe because it's the end of the season. Pro's: lovely room with small balcony and nice en suite bathroom. Very clean bedding and towels. Easy to find and near the centre. Con's: Check in was difficult as computer was working slowly and the reception did not seem prepared for our arrival. Even though we had arranged and early check in. No WiFi in rooms is disgraceful - only available in lounge.

We did not get any breakfast offered here, no food at all .this is not a Hotel it is a boarding house, Given Double Bed requested a Twin, Only one bedside table and very small shower, staff trying hard to Keep place clean .

Great location next to the pier & beach, v close to the town centre and a short walk to the theatres & tennis tournament. Hotel is in desperate need of modernisation but it’s clean and priced accordingly.

The cleanliness of the bathroom was questionable. There was a constant odour of urine that even the fan couldn’t eliminate. The towels had a sour smell to them. Holes in the bed sheets. The mirror had to be cleaned before you could see in it. The extra charge for the balcony was over rated. We didn’t use the balcony due to the condition- the chairs needed a good cleaning, the rod iron was full of cob webs, just not inviting to sit and enjoy the view. The front desk service was friendly. Great view of the ocean.

The Hotel and staff were great but there is a restaurant advertised. says when you book this could not be included (breakfast) but the truth is Breakfast simply isn't available, We were told by staff. when "quizzed" about this, that they only serve breakfast when the hotel have a full compliment of people. but this is a bending of the truth. Comfortable beds. Watch you where you walk outside, Sick, Turds wee and glass from street fighting everywhere down the rat runs.

Family meet up.
Stayed at the Afton Hotel with family for 3 nights . Booking in was easy and quick . Rooms were of a decent size , quite warm though so needed to keep windows open to avoid stuffiness . Good location for pier , beach , shops etc First night had quite disrupted sleep due to noisy guests in next room , loud music , banging doors and going up and down the corridors till early hours . Second night no disturbance at all if this had carried on we would of complained and asked to be moved . Last night new guests so bit of noise ...possibly put signs up re noise as the main doors are locked at 10 so maybe this should be brought in as its a large hotel . Clean rooms but sadly a smell of damp in the main reception was a bit off puttinf when entering the hotel
