"(1) the reception was the most unwelcoming of all hotels I stayed at in Japan - they insist of having you "self-register" using a ciumbersome system, which then requires 2 rather unfriendly guys to "help" you with this - checkout is likewise (2) the rooms were the smallest I had in Japan: aproximately 17², with no room for opening your suitcase, nor a desk to write at (3) the hotel is located in a high rise building, but sadly on the lower floors - again teh worst I had in Japan (4) no bottle of water in the room because "the water is supposedly drinkable" ... but it comes with a smell of chloride (5) from around 5 AM you can hear the trains in your room"

"Hotel New Grand is old school hospitality, where a guests is treated like a celebrity. They are all amazing at their job, with their kindness, attention to detail, and the pleasant atmosphere they help create. Of all the hotels I've stayed at, there are only 2 other hotels that come close. Easy 5/5 stars, and definitely a hotel I'd recommend. "

"Mooie en ruime kamers. Maar het hotel was extreem druk met wachttijden bij het diner in buffetvorm. Het Kaseiki diner was redelijk, maar niet fantastisch. De omgeving is mooi, maar alles is gericht op massatoerisme. Geen 5 sterren hotel, meer 3 sterren. Dan dus een hoge prijs voor het gebodene. De service is -zoals overal in Japan- wel 5 sterren."
