Even after living in this area for 20 years, I still get excited when "the mountain is out". Standing at over 14,000 feet, Mount Rainier creates her own weather, which can change quickly and can be drastically different than the surrounding area. I have learned to venture out to find new perspectives that I have not seen before or on the path less traveled. When I saw that it would be clear this past week for sunset, I grabbed my camera and shot for a general location until I found this spot. I was not expecting the autumn leaves, so I ended up with an image better than anticipated. #mybackyard #mountrainier #washingtonstate #exploremore #puyallup

A sunset view of Mt Rainier and Thun Field from the Hangar Inn in Puyallup, WA. Its a great place to have delicious diner food (omelets, soups, sandwiches and salads), watch airplanes take-off and land while appreciating the view of the mountain. My children love coming here. We always visit on our way home from Northwest Trek.
