Avoid this place: a disaster disguised as a hotel Positive points are the location near the subway and the Manhattan view from the terrace. The rest was a nightmare. Deceptive Fees & No Cleaning: Upon arrival, we were forced to pay a mandatory $175 USD ($35/night) "facilities fee" via a QR code before getting access to our room. On Expedia, this is listed under "Optional Extras". They also list an "optional housekeeping fee of $25/day". Probably because we didn’t pay this extra $25, our room was not cleaned once during our 5-day stay. So what on earth does that mandatory $35/night "facilities fee" actually cover? Absolutely nothing at all as there are no facilities. Nor Service: We booked for 3 guests but only got 2 towels. When we requested a third, it was promised, yet never delivered. The reception is almost never manned. The lobby and terrace look messy. The floor in the room was not well-cleaned and found hairs on bathroom walls. Fake Identity: The hotel sends emails pretending to be "Team Sonder". I have stayed with a real Sonder before and had a good experience, so using their name is highly misleading and inappropriate. Missing Amenities: We specifically booked this place for the advertised fridge and coffee maker/kettle. Neither was present in the room. Neglected & Creepy: The hallways smell heavily of weed, the rooms are very noisy, and all the lights on the building's facade flash constantly like a creepy haunted house. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.
