Enjoy spectacular million dollar ocean, inlet, and island views from the front deck! Clear views of Holden Beach and Oak Island across Shallotte Inlet, too! Close enough to the ocean to throw a football into the surf at high tide. Sweet Carolina Cottage is a well kept, older beach cottage that enjoys the same unobstructed views as an oceanfront home. There is a street in front of the house, dunes, sandbags, and then the beach! Beach access is a hop, skip, and a jump out the front door and down to the Columbia Street public access!

If you are looking for modern and/or the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, this is not it! This cottage is the 5th house from the east end of the island on a dead-end street. Not much traffic. Great for walking, running, biking, fishing, sunning, and relaxing! Something to do for everyone! Although it is secluded and relaxing you will find all of the amenities right at your fingertips! Shopping and restaurants are just minutes away and there is a awesome homemade ice creamery just down the street, as well as play ground for the kids!

Loved the location and views. Oven wouldn’t heat, which was a huge inconvenience since we planned meals at the house instead of going out. Reached out to owner and was told she would send someone out asap, but no other communication after that. TV in one bedroom didn’t work and the sink in the kitchen kept getting stopped up. I understand things happen, but the lack of communication made me feel unwelcome and unsatisfied.

The property doesn't appear to be kept up. The grass was so high that we couldn't sit outside. We got bite up. The water pressure was poor & I didn't get information about needing sheet & towels for my stay so I spent nearly 400 purchasing bedding & towels. It was not a relaxing stay.

Great location, could use some cleaning

This was our second time renting this property. We absolutely love the location of this house and the floor plan works great but the condition and cleanliness of this house has gone downhill over the last year. The house looks like it hasn’t had a deep clean in a very long time and really could benefit from one. Also, the queen beds are in terrible shape- one had a broken leg that had been taped together and the other sounded like it was about to fall through to the ground. Another thing that needs immediate attention is the large mice family that is living in the front yard. We’d love to book this property again but these items would absolutely need to be addressed first.

We like the location. Love this beach. The house was not very clean. There was mouse droppings on one of the beds. We had to wash all of the blankets. The floors where sandy and so was the couch.

Beautiful location, house very messy

We loved the location of the house. It was at the very end of the island on a dead end street. It was very private and just a short walk to the beach access. Lots of parking at the house and the outdoor shower was nice especially because of how sandy everything gets. The kitchen table seats 6 so if you have 10, it would be very tight. The house itself was very messy when we got there though. The kitchen items weren’t cleaned (things like the stove and pans were dirty and needed cleaning before use) there was sand on the ground and overall the house was very “worn.” The interior Siding is coming off the walls, the floors were sinking in and soft, boards on the porch felt unsafe for our toddler to be on, door hinges were broken, the couch was stained. I understand this is a beach house, but it was much dirtier than we had hoped for. It has so much potential, but really needs some TLC. One thing that should be noted, is that the house comes with no basic amenities. You have to bring your own towels, toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen dish towels, dish washing soap (even though they require you to wash the dishes) laundry detergent, and even bed sheets, which I felt was really strange and not well highlighted in the listing until you got check in/ instructions.

Very Nice!

The house was clean, well appointed, and in the condition advertised. The view of the ocean from the front porch is spectacular, and the beach access is less than 100 yards away. Having access to beach chairs was very nice. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils we needed. The only negative was the pavement under the house was covered in a half-inch (more in some places) of sand from Hurricane Betty, as we arrived a couple of days after she passed through, but obviously, that isn't the owner's fault. It took me a couple of hours with a shovel to clear the sand downstairs, which I didn't want to do on vacation, but the cold beer afterwards was might tasty!

Wonderful cottage!

We loved our stay at Sweet Carolina this past week. The location can’t be beat with practically ocean front views and a short walk to the beach. The cottage offered everything we needed, and was comfortable. There were a few things in need of simple repair but nothing that affected our stay negatively. Would happily stay again!
