Stunning Views of Oaxaca from Casa Rom

Welcome to the barefoot comfort of Casa Rom. Located 10 minutes walking from Santo Domingo and Centro Oaxaca and offering stunning views of the valley and Monte Alban. We love this space and hope you find it as cozy and welcoming as we do. We love spending time in our back garden, the luxurious bathtub downstairs and chopping fresh fruit in our kitchen.

When we found this diamond in the rough 2 years ago shortly after our daughter was born it was a barebones structure with no doors or windows. We have put a lot of thought and effort into designing our home and customizing the interior, but it is still a bit of a work in progress. However we now feel ready to share it with the world. We have partnered with local artisans and woodworkers to create some of the furniture in the home such as a japaneae style wood bedframe in the master bedroom and custom concrete kitchen island and counters. But we hope you discover all these subtle nuances of the build yourself as you explore the space.

A few important notes to make up front before you make the decision to book with us:

1. We describe our home as a “hikers paradise”. This means we are within 5 minutes of some of the best trails in Oaxaca. This also means that we are at a higher elevation, offering stunning views of the valley of Oaxaca and the surrounding mountains. However, the walk to the house from Centro can be daunting in the hottest time of the day and is recommended for those of able body and hardy spirit.

To mitigate this we provide numbers of a taxi service that will reliably pick you up from the door when needed.

2. During the dry season water delivery from the city can be unreliable. We have a 10, 000L cistern which stores roughly a month of water at regular usage. However if you are in need of water delivery during your stay we will contact a delivery service (pippa) but this will be at your cost, typically around $900 pesos. All that said be mindful of your water usage and sensitive to the area you are visiting.
