  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The house seems to need a lot of repair and maybe a little freshing up. Its decor is old and some of the door locks didn't work. Small improvements go a long long way.

Relaxing week!

The home was perfect for our needs! The pool and hot tub were wonderful and larger than expected! The only complaint I have is that I spent money on gear and there was already enough gear at the house. And also that there were no pots to boil corn on the cob and no measuring cup but we made due!

Carolla house , mixed bag.

The location of the property was wonderful. The property was clean inside upon arrival. Some of the appliances need replacing. The toaster only has two slots working and is a very cheap model. For a home that sleeps 12, it needs to be replaced. The pool was dirty upon arrival. A request to have it cleaned was not responded to. The couch needs to be cleaned or sprayed with Fabreeze as it had an odor.

Family Vacation

We enjoyed our stay very much. While time of year was a bit cool, there was plenty of sun and some great days on the beach. Pool was quite chilly but clean and good for gathering. I was a little disappointed in the state of repair in certain areas. When we arrived there were broken chair pieces from the bar stools and a broken letter “H” from the wall (THE BEACH signage) placed on the top of the banister. Not sure if tenants or cleaners did that. We put them on the dining room table upon our departure. The screen in my master bedroom did not have a handle and was not easy to open, so i was not able to easily sit on the downstairs porch as a get away. Drapes were half-hung in the master bedroom. The screens at the front of the house and window cranks were missing, so hard to get a cross flow of air going and the screens at the back of the house had holes in them. The air conditioning on the top floor did not function well-always warm during the day despite closing drapes, etc… The top to the kitchen trash can was cracked/broken but still usable, and the toaster left hand knob was missing. Lastly-the water and the ice were not functioning on the refrigerator. I say this still with the thought that we had a great time relaxing on a much needed and long awaited vacation. I can imagine what it takes to maintain a home of that size and climate, so raising awareness. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Fabulous Thanksgiving

The size and layout of the house were perfect for my family. Kitchen was better than I expected including decent knives. The bedrooms were fine but bathrooms a major problem. The house is badly in need of maintenance and TLC. Some problems are significant enough they may damage dry wall and several drawers in the kitchen are broken. A cabinet door is also difficult to close. The sink in the bathroom leaks and is damaging the cabinet. Some of the furniture is not stable eg kitchen stools.

The property mgmt. was very friendly and helpful. The property layout was very good for our family. Parts of the property were dated and needed upgrading. The kitchen cookware, including griddle need upgrading. Decks, pool and hot tub appear to be properly maintained.

The house was well suited for a nice and relaxing stay. It was clean, had a pool and hot tub, and was conveniently located for a 5 minute walk to the beach. Plus, it was dog friendly which is always nice to find for us dog owners.

Relaxing vacation

The location was great if you are looking for a quiet family vacation. The house is older vintage but was clean and quiet gated community. The weather was super windy and rainy during our stay so the spacious house was a real bonus. The beach is a short block or two easy walk from the house. Highly recommend this place for families.

Great location but home is rough around the edges

The house is in need of updates. It is definitely old. The first level with the bedrooms in particular are in desperate need of a facelift. The home was not as clean as I would have liked. There was a really gross crusty stain with small hairs stuck to it on the bed pad in the master bedroom. The beds and couch did not give me a feeling of clean. The upstairs is a nice wide open space and the balconies were very nice to sit out and relax. The location is nearly unbeatable. It was less than 5 minute walk to the beach. (There is only stair access so be aware if you’re bringing wagons, etc.) We went in early May and it was super quiet. We loved it. It is a nice gated community. Felt super safe and was only a 5 minute drive to the grocery store. We enjoyed our stay In the outer banks overall, but the home needs to update all the linens/ blankets, etc and the old furniture. For this reason I wouldn’t stay here again, but it did the job.

NICE PLACE

Property was as expected. Check in was easy and no concerns with the property at all. More than ample space for the number of people there. Would certainly recommend the house to friends/family looking for somewhere in the OBX area to stay.
