We arrived past 9 PM after a long day of travel and specifically booked this property because it was advertised as a 2-bedroom unit for myself and my in-laws. Upon arrival, we quickly realized that it was not actually a 2-bedroom apartment, but rather 1 closed bedroom and a sofa-bed in the living area.
I immediately contacted the host to ask where the second bedroom was, as it was important for us to have two separate private sleeping spaces. Unfortunately, the host was not helpful and repeatedly stated that Expedia considers a sofa-bed to count as a 2nd bedroom. I explained that this is misleading and inaccurate, and that the listing description should clearly state that the second “bedroom” is simply a sofa-bed in the common area.
What was most frustrating was the lack of willingness to help. The host continued insisting there were “2 rooms,” despite the fact that this was clearly not the same as renting a true 2 bedroom unit.
As a result, we had no choice but to leave the property immediately and find another accommodation in Bari past midnight. This created an extremely stressful and unpleasant situation after an already exhausting travel day.
I also contacted Expedia/VRBO. The VRBO rep requested a full refund from the host due to the misrepresentation, but the host refused, claiming that the listing matched the pictures.
To make matters worse, the surrounding area was heavily under construction and not very convenient for getting around. Unless you rent a car.
