Perfect place for 2 couples with kids! Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of room to gather. Plus the crofter was great for the teenage girls to have their own space. Communication with the rental agency was fast and super helpful! We would love to do this again! Highly recommend!

Fortress of Solitude for the win

House had everything we needed and we had a great week! Very well appointed other than one of the golf carts being slow as molasses. It was in the shop for 3 days and came out as slow as it was (which meant we had to deal with getting a rental) but the Bald Head Services earns an A plus for their customer service and response time! Just wish the house came with a club membership - won’t rent a house without it next time. Memberships were sold out! Love BHI!

Great house for a great price

Loved the house and location. Sleeps 12 people great for 2 families. The only bad thing I can say is the golf cart covers do not fit. Luckily it was just windy for us one day but on a rainy day could be an issue. They had toys, bikes, games, beach chairs and much more for you to use. We will be back next year!!!

A Wonderful week in November

Bald Heaf Island, and The Fortress of Solitude did not disappoint. Great house with a layout that accommodates room for dinner and card games and puzzles but also private space and cozy corners for reading. The Fortress is well equipped, especially the kitchen. We were in need of nothing to make some delicious meals and build fond memories!

Excellent choice on BHI

Fortress of Solitude was a delight for our extended family of 7. House layout is marvelous with plenty of beds and baths for space. Two golf carts and bikes allowed us to remain out and about for most of the days. Kitchen is well stocked and starter kits from BHI services go pretty far (thank you!). We had a terrific time. Thank you for sharing the house with us.

A magical getaway

From start to finish this stay was a 12/10!! This beautiful home was SO CLEAN! Absolutely amazing house equipped with everything you need to cozy up and cook dinner at home, play games with family & friends or take the two golf carts for cruises around the island. Management company was so responsive and helped us with everything we needed (including booking an additional nights stay because we simply were not ready to go home)! We will be back Fortress of Solitude!!

Excellent Spring Break

We have rented this house 2x and will continue to do so. It’s very clean with well appointed furniture. Excellent location near the market, so quick trips to get stuff is easy. The kids love the Crofter Bedroom and makes the entire house seem so much bigger. Thanks for letting us rent!

Clean and beautiful home, perfect location

The process could t have been easier and it was great to see that the house was exactly as represented in the listing. Very clean home with all the amenities we needed during our stay. Although we didn’t use the crofter, I can see that this would have been great for those with more guests. We love staying in the Maritime Forest and this was the most ideal location, smack in the middle of the island and an easy walk to the grocery store and the new coffee shop. Our kids enjoyed the bikes and we made use of both golf carts. We hope to stormy here again the next time we visit Bald Head.

Super location for super fun

We had a wonderful stay. The home was perfect for 6 of us-3 teens, 2 moms, and grandma-foe a quick getaway to Bald Head Island. We only had time to stay 2 nights (but we’d love to come back for longer), and appreciate the flexibility. We were able to check in early and use the golf carts, and everything was prepared so well for our arrival. It’s a comfortable home. The only issue we had (it’s a small one) was a bicycle chain that fell off a few times when one of our teens rode behind us while we drove a golf cart. We had a great time watching the UNC/Duke game on TV, with great reception and many channels to select. The furnishings were lovely and the beds were comfy and the kitchen and game closet were well stocked. Thanks for sharing your vacation home with us !

Absolutely wonderful space!

PLENTY of room here!! My husband, four teenagers and I really enjoyed this beautiful, clean, and well cared for home. This was our first time to BHI, and we will absolutely stay here again! With the 2 four person golf carts, it was perfect for the older teens, and my husband and I. We also enjoyed the convenience of a short walk to the Maritime Market for breakfast, wood fired pizza, and drinks/snacks for the kids. While I cannot personally vouch for the bunk style beds, the king, and queen beds were all very comfortable, as was the bedding itself. We enjoyed taking turns on the bikes, and riding around the island. As it was only the beginning of the tourist season, we enjoyed the friendliness and waves from other residents, and especially the staff at The Bean Bar and Horizons restaurant. We spent some time in the Island Passage and Bald Island blues stores and found the clothing selection and staff fantastic! BHI and Fortress of Solitude are our new favorite places! Looking forward to booking more than just a quick weekend! Thank you for sharing your home!

Excellent stay!

I’ve been visiting BHI for nearly 20, and this house was one of my favorites. The house was very clean, roomy, and private. The location next to the Market was so convenient, as it only took us a second to run up for things needed. The bedding / furniture was comfortable and high quality. I loved everything about the property and I’ll be sure to rent it again. Thanks so much!

Quiet and Relaxation at its best on BHI!

The Fortress of Solitude is just that- a quiet place to shut out the noise and busyness of the city and just relax, recharge, and enjoy all that Bald Head has to offer from a central location. We've been to this property before and it suited our needs so well, that we booked it again! Our family of 8 (2 little ones, 2 teens, mom/dad, and grandparents) had a wonderful week of beach visits, strolls around the island, and playing games around the table. The house is clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and we'll be back!

Stay for Badwater race

Had a great time at a beautiful property. House was clean, comfortable, and in a good location. One downfall is that the listing stated there would be a pack and play but there wasn’t one. Contacted the property manager and one was delivered the next morning. Overall would highly recommend this property!!

It was nice but did jot get a feeling of real clean Sheets in king had blood and over garage room also had blood on pillows and wall and no sheets Although the housekeeping dept rectified most issues it did not have a clean feeling in master bedroom bathroom Master bath had German roaches coming up from sheets wet drain maintenance came and sprayed Bathroom upstairs the shower did not drain and maintenance did come and fix the staff was wonderful and rectifying the situation but still was difficult on arrival to find all these things other than that I’d have to say it’s a very nice house I would rated probably a 3 1/2

Quiet, Relaxing, Clean, Comfortable.

We love Bald Head and the Fortress of Solitude was perfect for our family (ages 6 to 66). A short golf-cart trip to the beach, an even shorter trip to the market, and an extremely clean house made for a wonderful trip. We’ll be back!

What a wonderful time we have had while vacationing at Fortress of Solitude! It is obvious the owners put a lot of heart and care into their property and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. We have stayed at this property twice and highly recommend! We will defintiely be back!

Amazing and relaxing trip!

We had such a wonderful time at the Fortress of Solitude! Beautiful home and excellent location on the island. The owner was very responsive to any of our needs, despite being in another country. We stayed here with our three kids, ages 5, 3 and almost 1, and it had everything we needed for them. Would highly recommend!
