The unit was not ready at checkin time, 4 P.M., and not ready for occupancy until 5:45 PM; however, the owner would not extend our checkout time to compensate for the 1.75 hour loss. The rushed cleaning left the space less than optimally cleaned and indicated the obvious occupancy of small pets. This were soiled areas on the lower section of the doors and animal hair. The lower level bedroom was comfortable but there was no handrail along the stairwell. The towels, although laundered, were dingy. The location is great, all appliances work, the neighborhood is safe and walkable.

Slightly disappointed

Biggest issue was that the air didn't work and I was advised to open windows. Unfortunately, there were no windows in the basement. Heat and menopause are the worst, so I was miserable.There was a heap of trash strewn about on the back porch, so we were not able to enjoy the outdoors.The doorbell cannot be heard inside. We were sitting on the couch, and a family member called inside to say he'd been ringing the doorbell for so long that he was going to leave. We tested it, but it could only be heard from outside, but no sound inside.There was a load of linens left inside the dryer.The basement had a musty, kind of old carpet smell--not overwhelming, but noticable. The owner/property manager responded to my texts and answered the phone when I called.There was a heap of trash spr

Great place to stay not far from DC attractions.

Came for a blink 182 show at capital one arena. Place had everything we needed and was walking distance to the area of the concert venue. Host was very easy to get ahold of and provided all information that was necessary. Would 100% recommend and book again.

What a great week to visit Washington DC! This townhome is wonderful and worked well for my family of 6. We traveled up from Charleston in 2 cars so parking became a little tricky, however we were able to obtain 1 street parking pass and had to park the second car in a parking garage about a half mile away. I don’t mind walking so this wasn’t a huge issue. The area is very nice with the owners of the various units taking great pride in their homes. The house may appear a little small (it’s about 1200 sq feet) but it has 3 full bedrooms with large beds and 3 full baths. The baths are the highlight (especially the one on the main floor) as it’s a true “wet room” so we never had to wait long for a hot shower after walking around all day. The metro is about a 10-12 minute walk, but again I don’t mind walking so this didn’t bother me. The host,David, was easy to talk with and very responsive to make our stay perfect. The high light though is the backyard patio area with cafe lights. Perfect place for a nice night cap while enjoying the fireflies.

Comfortable accommodation

We were a group of chaperones for a youth trip to D.C. and this was where we stayed during the duration of our trip (the youth stayed at another location within a couple blocks). We spent the majority of our trip out sightseeing and visiting as many of the attractions and museums as we could. We were glad to come back to the Chic Shaw home each night to relax and rest up for the following days. The home features very comfortable beds and furnishings. The host was an extremely pleasant and efficient communicator, offering all the information we needed to know in a manner that did not necessitate a response in most cases. We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay and would not hesitate to book here again in the future.

Nice location not too far from DC historical sites

Five of us stayed in this two-story home northeast of the mall celebrating our wedding anniversary. We booked the home due to the location and were impressed with David's responsiveness before and during the stay. When we arrived, there were some items in the backyard it appeared the cleaners had missed and David did offer to have someone come by to clean up. Worth noting, two of the three bathrooms are toilet/shower/sink combinations. The shower curtain in the 3rd bathroom is showing its age a bit. The unit is location on a somewhat busy street so the front bedroom can be a bit noisy at night with traffic and sirens, a common occurrence in downtown DC. For some reason we couldn't get the fan and overhead light to come on in that same bedroom. Not sure if we didn't know how the switch on the wall worked. A couple of grocery stores and restaurants were within walking distance. The home was walking/Uber distance to all the DC attractions and I enjoyed working with our host. I'd like to give it an overall 5-star review but there were just those little things (compared to other properties we have stayed at) that keep it from getting that rating.
