I was looking forward to staying at The Fontaine, especially given its reputation as a top upscale hotel in KC but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of that standard.
The room itself was surprisingly cramped, which was disappointing for a property marketed as upscale. Even worse, the cleaning service was unreliable. One day housekeeping showed up at 8am and I asked them to come back later - they did not return that day. The next day when housekeeping actually showed up, all they did was make the bed. I requested a full service that day. They didn’t replace the trash liners, replenish the in-room coffee, or remove the dirty towels I’d intentionally placed on the floor for replacement. The floors and counters were never cleaned during my six-night stay. For a hotel in this price range, that level of service is unacceptable.
I also had issues with billing: the hotel attempted to charge me for overnight parking every night, even though I only parked overnight twice. It felt careless and added an unnecessary layer of frustration to the stay.
The bathroom wasn’t in great shape either—there was splattered paint in the corners and several areas clearly in need of repair. Overall, the room and upkeep didn’t reflect anything close to a luxury experience.
In the end, The Fontaine was not a comfortable place to stay and did nothing to make guests feel like they were in a high-end hotel. I expected much better and would not choose to stay here again.
