Every time I left my room I had to go to the lobby and get them reprogrammed, and they would work once after and that was it. The hotel has definitely seen better days… many of obvious patches in the walls, broken lamps, rusty tub, broken door chain, ripped sheets, broken curtains, chipped paint, moldy shower curtains, busted towel bar, spiders EVERYWHERE, and sad, small pillows. Most years I've stayed at the Sportsman Inn dating back to when their website just had a photo of the front of the motel with the number to call for reservations. It was alway Spartan, but clean. 'Wonderful stay. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Well stocked kitchen, lots of dishes, silverware, pots and pans (one thing I would suggest is a new can opener the one there does not work well). Beds were comfortable. The host was very accommodating (we locked the keys in the house and she responded to us right away). Would stay there again. Went to pocosin nature preserve to photograph the tundra swans. Drove to pea island for more photography. Excellent trip.'
