Wat je kan verwachten

Het museum is alles wat een liefhebber van kunst en geschiedenis zich kan wensen. Het neemt je mee op een reis door de geschiedenis en over de hele wereld, te beginnen met archeologische ontdekkingen vanaf het ontstaan van de mensheid, via het oude Egypte, Griekenland en Rome, de middeleeuwen, de 16e tot 18e eeuw, met als hoogtepunt de art nouveau en art deco van het begin van de 20e eeuw. Naast de enorme Belgische en Europese collecties zijn er schatten van beschavingen uit Azië en Amerika.

Het Koninklijk Museum voor Kunst en Geschiedenis is een van de grootste Belgische musea. Het bevindt zich in het Jubelpark in een prachtig klassiek gebouw. De artefacten zijn verdeeld over groepen:

  • De oude geschiedenis inclusief Egypte, Griekenland en Rome (tijdelijk gesloten)
  • De nationale archeologie inclusief prehistorie
  • Europese decoratieve kunst van 10e tot 20e eeuw
