Welcome to Sunbird 1009 West

This top of the line 1 bed/1 bath gulf-front condo is the perfect place to spend your next family vacation!

The kitchen offers stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and custom cabinets. The living room has a comfy queen size sleeper sofa, TV/DVD player and a SONY surround system. The master bedroom also has a queen size bed, TV and attached bathroom with a tub and shower combo. Guests have to purchase parking pass and pool bands from front desk at check in.

The sweeping views of the turquoise-blue water and sugar-white sand will draw you out onto the private balcony where you can enjoy the scenery and sunsets When you feel like venturing out, walk right next door to Pineapple Willy's! No driving needed! Sunbird Condominiums is within walking distance to several more restaurants, shops, miniature golf, Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, Wonder Works, Wal-Mart, and a short drive to the Edgewater Shopping Center. Call now to book your perfect retreat! Unit does not have washer and dryer, the resort has a laundry.

Please note: One car allowed per unit! Parking is a $30 registration fee payable to the resort. Armbands are required by the resort and can be picked up and paid for ($6/band) at the resort's front desk.

Very small apartment. had a bad smell inside. kitchen was not stocked, no cutting board or normal spoons to prepare the food. the bedroom the ac was on top in front of the bed and was blowing directly into the face and head also made loud noise. traveled with 2 little ones and had no space to even put their cribs.

I'll be the first to admit I was a little hesitant to book due to wishie washie, poor, or old reviews. However, this place was great!!! Upon entering the condo, completely smooth checkin / out process. Condo was very clean with no sand on the floor. Bedroom was a little tiny however, my toddler, husband, and myself stayed in the bed and were very comfortable. They have built-in drawers in the bedroom we used to store dirty linens/clothes. They have washers and dryers on first floor that take cards!! Bathroom was clean and provided linens. Living room area, TV picture quality/cable was poor but that ocean view is beautiful. There are better quality chairs on the balcony vs what is pictured. There is a new sliding door - which was my main negative here. Sliding door gets hung at times on something? When you go to open it the top will try to open while the bottom doesnt want to move (not everytime, just randomly). Probably needs to be oiled but I didnt want to bother with maintenance. Kitchen has plenty of appliances/utensils/etc. Recliner is cozy!! My dad, my husband, my 14 yr old daughter, myself, and my toddler stayed here and loved every minute of it!! We will be back 1009!!

Maintenance left our door open while we were away

I rented Sunbird 1009W and arrived yesterday afternoon. Once we arrived we noticed several things wrong with the space. Bathroom door will not shut, it hits the frame. The toilet takes 5 minutes to refill enough for a flush after previous flush. The ice maker is froze up. There is sand EVERYWHERE. All over the couch and loveseat and the floor was covered. My wife swept it within an hour of us arriving because you couldn’t walk through the unit barefooted without your feet being covered in sand. Then for the biggest complaint, today, our second day, we left to eat breakfast, explore the city and do some shopping. Upon arrival back to the room our door was standing wide open. I walked in expecting either a robber or a maintenance person but there was no one in the room. I personally locked the door as we left, locking both the door handle and the dead bolt! Me and my wife went downstairs to the rental office and told the lady behind the desk. She messaged someone I suppose was in maintenance but could not answer why our door was standing wide open. All she did was apologize. This is our 3rd time at Sunbird but this is unacceptable.

This place is a dump. The bedroom is so small you have about 5 inches to get around the bed to ge t in. The kitchen is wide enough for an oven. There is no place to put your groceries so we had to put them on the counter. The sofas are hard and not comfortable at all. The cabinet Dorris were hanging off. Y husband fixed a few. We could feel sand when we took our shoes off. We will not be back.

Not Really Meant for 4 People/Poor Mgmt Communication/Gorgeous Oceanfront View

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous ocean front view with a clear sunset view each evening. Cons: This complex, Sunbird, is an older complex. It appears this unit was not used and was not given a fresh cleaning prior to our arrival which may explain its early readiness on check in day. Lock box with physical key – confusing and the lock was not well oiled and made it challenging to open the door – mgmt came by and oiled the lock on the second day. No signage showing how to get to the west smaller pool or ocean entrance. Due to construction, it is not clear how to access either. We saw several guests asking others how to get to pool and to the ocean gate. The large main pool is not working or under construction. Mgmt did not make this known prior to booking. Delayed response (none received until the next day) from after hours mgmt company for cleaning issues that needed immediate attention – sand on all seating surfaces, table surfaces and inside the second bed comforter – was it washed? The after hours number given was called and texted as directed by our check-in instructions. Plumbing issues – you must hold down the handle for the entire flush cycle in order for the toilet bowl to clear matter. Shower has a deafening whistle while the water is running that lasts the entire shower. Icemaker is filled with ice that has frozen together and the ice dispenser does not work. A/C fan is nearest to the main bedroom and is very loud in addition to rattling while on. This unit is not conducive to 4 people living for any length of time – we were two adults. The only hanging storage is a built in dresser but it is filled with pillows and comforters. There is also a dresser in the main bedroom. There is no where to store luggage unless you have thin suitcases that can fit under the main bed. The furniture in the main bedroom is too large for the space and requires very careful maneuvering to get to the other side of the bed – if not careful bruises will occur – yes it did. No potholders to take things out of oven. No scrubbing tool or cloth to clean pots/pans. Patio has 4 chairs and two small tables.There is no space to store beach stuff if needed. Summary: For us, visiting this area for 20 years, the view made the cons worthwhile. We would not stay here if we had 4 guests, but it is good for 2 guests. We would look for a newer complex in the future, but if one was not available, we would stay here again as two guests, not four.

Great location, not so great check in

The best part of this condo is the location. Having Pineapple Willy's right next door was convenient. Check in was poor. We did not receive the code to the gate to get in to the property or the code to the gate to get to the beach. The security officer was not on duty. WHen we called the number for the security officer he said the rental company was supposed to provide us with that. We tried calling several numbers on the information paperwork received prior to the stay and was not able to get anyone to answer. Luckily someone staying at the resort came through the gate and was kind enough to give us the gate code to get in. The next morning we called all of the numbers again that were listed to call and again, had to leave a message to get the codes. We finally received a text at 11:23 am with the codes. The floor of the condo was covered in sand. Did not appear to have been vacuumed or swept. There were no pot holders, no frying pan and no dust pan for the sand and dirt that we swept up. The kitchen is small but overall the condo is a decent size for a one bedroom one bath condo to accommodate 2-3 people. We had 4 and it was pretty tight. The balcony is on the smaller side.

The property itself is nothing special just a regular condo but customer service is 0,a big 0, we stayed for 4 days ,family of 4, with 1 toalet paper,1 trash bag and 2 towels, front desk has nothing to do with your room as they are all individualy owned and provide their own housekeeping ,so prepare yourself for going to walmart to buy trash bags, toilet paper and towels so you can take a shower every day ,contacted the property booking site left a voicemail multiple times and they managed to TEXT ME with instructions to provide my own towels toilet paper and trash bags hahha imagine that,also the toilet flashing takes forever and bathrooms have no or minimum air out,total rip off,stayed for 3 nights ,4 days rip off

Loved the condo!

Loved to condo, was surprised by how big it was! Very nice to have 2.5 bathrooms. The pool and beach were beautiful and very clean. The people were really nice and helpful if anything was needed. Already planning to go back!
