The property was as described except that there were no towels on arrival and these took over 3 hours to be delivered.
Our stay was let down by the booking process which involved the hosts Alloggio, their own booking agency Port Stephens Accommodation and the shopfront in the town of Nelson Bay run by Winning Holidays, which did the check-in and key handover (except on Sundays). I can't recall any of this being mentioned on the Stayz site.
After booking and paying 50% through Stayz we were immediately contacted by Port Stephens Accommodation to pay the balance even though it was not due for another week. Stayz and Alloggio advised us to ignore these emails (a systems issue!!) but the 'overdue a/c' emails persisted for a further week until we paid. Thereafter Port Stephens Accommodation demanded that we do an on-line check in (as we were arriving on a Sunday when the shop was closed). This involved providing copies of driving licence, credit card and vax certificates by email which I was not prepared to do for security reasons and agreed instead to take them into the shop on Monday after some negotiation with Alloggio staff. We were still able to collect keys from the secure safe outside the shop on the Sunday . All in all a most frustrating process, the like of which I have not experienced anywhere in the world when booking accommodation.
