The sea, with sandy beach, is distant only 30 minutes from the house. (Lido di Camaiore -Viareggio- Forte dei Marmi).
This charming farmhouse restored in 2012, was formerly a small cloister dating back to 1700. It is located in the middle of an olive tree grove dominating the valley and the city of Lucca, which lies only 11 km from here. The owner is an interior designer, this is why interiors are refurbished with care and attention to details, using original Tuscan furniture and aiming at the perfect ease of the guests. The days in Lucca will be particularly agreeable thanks to its many attractions and points of interest: the sightseeing of the town, its unique city walls, churches, squares, museums etc. For those who love the sea, in 30 minutes you can reach the sea-side resorts of Versilia, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi - all renowned for their huge golden shores. For mountain lovers, in only 30 minutes you can be in the Garfagnana area and walk through its ancient villages. Take a chance to visit the cities of art and the most characteristic places of Tuscany (Pisa, Firenze, Siena, Cinque Terre) that are near to Lucca and easy to reach. In case some day you do not want to go anywhere, you can enjoy the impressive terrace, which is definitely the peculiarity of this house, offering the possibility to stay outside in complete relax. A magical place surrounded by nature where everything is like it used to be – only a few ancient houses deep in the stillness of the hills and an enchanting atmosphere due to the magnificent view, outstanding during the day and lovely by night.

Lovely stay in beautiful accomodation

Ou family, ranging from our 6 and 9 year old children up to their 80+ year old grandfather,had a lovely stay in this beautiful accomodation. The house is very charming, but also has great modern facilities like a fully equiped kitchen, window screens against mosquitos, lovely rain showers etc. The view is as amazing as you might dream. The kids had a lot of fun exploring the lush garden while we had drinks on the patio. The road up the hill was a bit scary the first time, but as Massimo promised we got used to it. It is comfortably close to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, the beach, the mountains...would love to come back some day and would absolutely recomm

Perfect Italian villa with splendid view for a relaxed holiday

We are a Dutch family with two teenagers and stayed two weeks in this fully restored traditional Italian villa. The house is fully equiped and feels like home to stay. The very friendly owner makes all efforts to give you a perfect holiday and is very helpful in any way (places to go, restaurants, etc.). He speaks good English and is very responsive in his communication. If you are looking for a spot to relax and want to enjoy your privacy, then this is the place to go! The villa is located close to Lucca (15 min drive) and ideal for day trips to Pisa, Florence, Volterra, Siena, and many more. We loved the outdoor area (veranda and garden) with a georgeous view on the valley and Lucca. But also indoors there is everything you need and all in perfect condition. The road up the mountain is a bit challenging (narrow and steep at some points) but you get used to it quickly after a few runs. We can highly recommend this place!

Fantastisch huis

Heerlijk vakantie gehad,in en rond het huis alles perfect. Werden ontvangen met fles proseco, en kregen van de vriendelijke eigenaar Massimo een goede uitleg en rondleiding van het huis. Kleine problemen zoals een kapotte waterkoker werden meteen opgelost.

Very hospital en friendly owner. Beautiful house (at about a15 minutes climb by car). Nice, well equipped, terrace with a wonderful view. Clean bedrooms with good beds. All bedroom windows have mosquito nets. Clean en nice bathrooms with good showers. Well equipped kitchen. We recommend it.

Fijn verblijf in de heuvels van Lucca

Fijn en mooi huis in een stille en zeer groene omgeving. Groot genoeg voor 2 volwassenen en 3 tieners. Het is een geschenk om de ochtenden op het terras te beginnen en de dag in stilte af te sluiten. Ook een fijn zonneterras aan de zijkant van het huis waar onze jongste dochter haar hart kon ophalen. We hebben ook genoten van de omgeving: Lucca, Pisa, de stranden van Camaiore, kajak, wandelen en een boottocht langs de Cinque Terre. Verhuurder Massimo is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Enige minpunt waren de vele muggen. Maar die hebben ook recht op hun stukje natuur ;) We hopen ooit voor een langere periode neer te kunnen strijken!

Deze vakantiewoning is mooi zeer goed onderhouden en van alle comfort voorzien. Massimo is de perfecte host. Hij is altijd bereikbaar en doet er alles aan om je vakantie comfortabel te laten verlopen. De locatie is prachtig. Ideaal om volledig tot rust te komen. Lucca is dichtbij en het is een fijne stad om in rond te lopen. Wij hebben genoten van onze vakantie in dit mooie huis. Wij hopen hier nog eens terug te komen!

Pareltje dichtbij Lucca

We hebben zojuist onze Kerstvakantie in dit huisje gevierd met twee volwassenen, 2 meiden van 17 en twee honden. En wat hebben we genoten! Het huisje is met zoveel zorg voor detail en comfort ingericht, dat het met recht ' een parel' genoemd mag worden. Massimo, de eigenaar is er terecht erg trots op, en we begrijpen nu het grote aantal recensies met 5 sterren! Het uitzicht is magnifiek, de rust en de sfeer, prachtig. En je bent zo in Lucca, in 30 minuten op het strand, in 30 minuten naar Pisa , een goed uur naar Florence. Echt dé perfecte uitvalsbasis. In deze tijd, alhoewel we enorm boften met het weer 14-17 graden, is het huisje heerlijk om thuis te komen en je te laten omarmen door de warme sfeer. In de zomer moet dit helemaal geweldig zijn. Drie open deuren vanuit de woonkamer/keuken zorgen dan dat het complete terras erbij wordt getrokken. Voor de ramen zitten overal horren voor, wat natuurlijk erg prettig is in de zomer. 5 sterren dus dik verdiend, en ééntje extra voor gastheer Massimo (die perfect Engels spreekt)! Arriverderci Massimo!

Authentic and cosy

Driving up the hill you'll find yourselve in a beautiful, typical Italian surroundings. The house is authentic and modern at the same time. Everything you need is there. Including a stunning view. Lucca is nearby. It's part of the scenery you have from your terrace. Massimo makes sure that you lack nothing. Make sure you have a car otherwise you're a kind of 'stuck' in the house. Which will be no punishment. We stayed with 4 people. It can get a bit crowded downstairs on a rainy day when you're with 6. Around the house is enough space to enjoy the Tuscan sun and for kids to lose their energy. Unfortunately there is no swimmingpool. Never the less we'll be back!

Wir haben 2 Wochen im Juni in Massimos Haus gewohnt. Das Haus ist wunderschön eingericht und auf einem Hügel etwa 8 Km von Lucca entfernt gelegen. Man schaut von der Terasse in die Ebene und auf Lucca. Wenn man Ruhe und Entspannung sucht, ist man hier genau richtig. Massimo ist ein hervorragender Gastgeber, der sich sehr freundlich und zurückhaltend gekümmert hat. Vielen Dank dafür. Wir werden sicherlich noch einmal hierhin zurück kehren.

Great time in Lucca

Our stay in Lucca was wonderfully relaxing. Massimo was a great host. He stopped in several times in the two weeks that we were there. His travel tips and suggestions made our trip the most enjoyable we’ve had. The house was nicely furnished but kept a farmhouse charm. The view from the patio never failed to relax us. Very peaceful. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Traumhaftes Haus in toller Lage nahe Lucca

Das Haus war super schön – sehr gepflegt, stilvoll eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Die Lage ist ruhig und idyllisch, gleichzeitig ist man in wenigen Minuten in Lucca. A piece of Tuscan heaven...

For two weeks we enjoyed a little piece of Tuscan heaven amongst the peaceful olive groves in the hills outside of Lucca, while discovering the history (and restaurants!) of the city of Lucca itself, along with day trips around the area including Lido di Camaiore along the coast, Pisa, and Firenze, historic villas and local wineries. The home itself is beautifully restored and authentically appointed, and we ended each day with wine on the covered terrace overlooking an amazing vista. Our host Massimo was most kind, gracious, and helpful and we very much enjoyed getting to know him. As other reviewers have noted, the approach to the home up and down the winding hills (and up and down the terraced steps between the house and parking) are not without their challenges, but it became easier each day.

Frühling im Olivenhain über Lucca

Wir haben eine traumhafte 1. April Woche in Massimos Haus verbracht und fanden es noch schöner als auf den Fotos. So eine Aussicht kann man eben nur schwer auf Bildern festhalten. Die Lage ist fantastisch und Sonne kommt früh am Morgen hinter dem Berg hervor und scheint den ganzen Tag auf das Haus und die Terrasse.Und zu so einer Aussicht und Abgeschiedenheit kommt man eben auch nicht auf einer breit ausgebauten Strasse. Wir waren mit 2 mittel großen Autos unterwegs und die Straße war völlig in Ordnung für uns. Einfach langsam fahren und ab und an vor den Kurven hupen. Wenn einem jemand entgegen kommt, dann sind es Einheimische, die wissen was zu tun ist.Das Haus ist bestens ausgestattet, die Matratzen sehr bequem, gute Bettwäsche und hochwertige Handtücher. In der Küche hatte es alles was wir gebraucht haben und wir haben sehr viel gekocht. An den Abenden war es noch kühl und da wir darauf verzichtet haben zu heizen, haben wir abends ein Feuer im Kamin in der Küche gemacht, Feuerholz ist vorhanden und günstig. Uns hat es für eine Woche gereicht aber auch für Nachschub wird gesorgt wenn man ihn braucht.Massimo stand uns immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite und selbst als wir uns an unserem letzten Tag einen platten Reifen geholt haben wusste er wer uns schnell und professionell helfen kann. Ein Urlaub an den wir noch lange zurück denken werden und hoffentlich wieder kommen.

Casa molto bella,dal terrazzo si vede tutta lucca. La strada per raggiungere la casa è un po scomoda molto stretta ma comunque ne vale la pena. Non è specificato che la camera al piano terra non è presente il bagno come descritto nell'annuncio ma è in cucina con un disimpegno prima.

A beautiful house in the mountains. The view is so stunning that no picture can do justice to it. It’s in the mountains, quiet, authentic and peaceful, yet close to Lucca, 10 minutes to the closest supermarket. Great gardens around the house, which are very well maintained. We were extremely well taken cared of By the owner Massimo. He was very kind and attentive. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We hade more than everything we needed. Beautiful Tuscan country retreat if it fits you

This is a truly beautiful house with long views down to Lucca and olive groves all around. It is well-furnished and we slept really soundly. Massimo, the host, is extremely gracious and offers many great ideas for local activities and day trips, and once you find it the local supermarket is very well stocked. Having said all that, there are two "buts" to determine if this is the right fit for you. The key one is that "steep, winding, and narrow road" indicated in some comments is an understatement of the case. If you are not an experienced and confident driver with a relatively small car, you're going to have a challenge. The road goes from one lane to less than one car width, there are no shoulders, and the dropoffs are steep. It is very unlikely that a car service would agree to come pick you up. Issue #2, which is related to that, is that either you cook quite a bit in the well-appointed kitchen or you stay out for lunch and dinner (meaning drive up the hill in the dark). It is a good 20-25 minutes to anywhere and you get to navigate the hill both ways. We would go out for the day, enjoy an Italian lunch, pick up supplies for dinner, and head home to cook and enjoy that. (Issue #3: if you are a crazy cat person, use your common sense and do not feed the feral cats that roam the mountain as the people before us did.) Again, we very much enjoyed our stay once we figured it all out but you need a small car and you better be a good driver.

Great Stay in a Typical Tuscan Villa

We had an amazing stay at Massimo's Tuscan Villa. We were close to the walled city of Luca, and it was a great place to stage your Tuscan vacation. The villa itself was well appointed and everything was high quality. The amazing views, and the Tuscan hillside made each morning very special. Massimo is a great host. He ensured that we had everything we needed and he knew it was our anniversary and left us a little gift for when we checked in. If you're looking for a typical Tuscan villa on the Tuscan Hill side surrounded by olive trees on a working olive tree farm, stay with Massimo. One of the best VRBO hosts I've ever had.
