There is wonderful walking - the Berwyn Mountains are on the doorstep and Snowdonia is within easy reach - also bird watching and pony trekking. A couple of footpaths are temporarily closed as they go through pheasant breeding areas. Chirk, an historic border town, has a good selection of shops, a magnificent castle (National Trust) and the 19th-century Telford aqueduct, whilst Llangollen’s steam trains, horse-drawn canal boat trips and world famous music Eisteddfod are within easy reach.
