6/10 Satisfaisant

The unit does have a lovely view. But the walk down to the Malecon is quite long and requires navigating a steep gravelly road. I managed it fine but it was too much for my wife. Especially in the heat and sun. We were without hot water for several days as the installed immersion heater could not supply hot water. The host worked with us to identify the cause and fix the issue but it took several days. The host uses an AI Bot. So responses are almost instantaneous and very polite.. But it takes 3 or 4 messages before any issue is properly understood and addressed. The unit could be lovely but it is very sparsely furnished and equipped with just the bare bones of utensils and kitchen equipment so cooking is suboptimal. In our 25 day stay there were only a few guests around the pool to interact with and they turned over frequently. We did not find any sense of community or engagement with other guests. The view from the pool is spectacular but there is no effective shade and the direct sun can be relentlessly hot. Not many guests spent extended periods by the pool. It just got too hot. And this was January when La Paz should be at its coolest . This was our experience and our opinion. I did overhear several guests loudly say that they felt they had found paradise at Altus Sunset. So, I can admit that for some people this location could be wonderful. It was not wonderful for us. We chose not to rent a car. Other guests who rented a car had more freedom and convenience .
