« This was a wonderful experience, very friendly staff who were always ready to help, offering glasses of chilled water in the spacious and well-furnished public rooms and alcohol in the evenings. We stayed in the large Shakespeare room, often used as a Bridal Suite. The spa is great, with a good sized pool, a jacuzzi and unusual sauna.
Really good breakfasts served in bedrooms and at the nearby sister-hotel Milsoms. The fine dining at the main restaurant on the nearby River Stour was sublime,...

« We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round . »
« We spent one night in Colchester at GreyFriars Hotel.This is great value for money and definetely deserves 4 to 5*. Amazing breakfast. I recommend the suite with large bathtub. »
« Nice tidy and clean room that looked like it had been recently fitted out.
Decent sized Kitchen at each end of the corridor i didn't use them but they looked fully kitted out and new.
The hotel is on a quiet residential street but took me 5mins to walk into the town centre which has loads of bars, shops and restaurants.
Worth calling ahead of arrival and they'll reserve you a parking spot (There aren't many spots)
Nice bloke on reception showed us our rooms and kindly found me a fan.

« I liked the location; staff were friendly and helpful; breakfasts good and flexible in choice. Comfortable and clean hotel with charming dining area lined with bookcases filled with books. Only had occasional problem accessing WiFi. Really enjoyed my stay. »
« What a great place to stay in you need a bed for the night. Everything is handed by phone and text. Parking at the rear of the property, nice clean room and we'll sorted en suite. The design of my room made it a bit of a squeeze getting around the double bed. Good amenities including a drinks fridge with complimentary water and juice included as well as tea and coffee making facilities and a small oven, ironing board and cooling tower fan.

« Fabulous traditional country hotel with excellent accommodation and top notch food options. Very convenient if you're intending to walk to Flatford Mill where the Haywain was painted - it's a 45 minute walk alongside the river. Staff were very friendly and helpful and even managed to find me the right sized Alan key to unscrew my camera's battery compartment!
