'The ocean was visible from both our rooms. We did not cook, just made tea; but the kitchen appeared to be well equipped and we saw other guests cooking. The bathroom was clean and had several showers, so we never had to wait The hostel is very conveniently located in downtown Hilo.'

'Loved it here! Would have stayed longer but they were booked up. Great location. Short BEAUTIFUL walk to the beach/park. The woman at the front desk was so nice and helpful! A+'

'Clean room, comfortable beds. Our only complaint was that we wanted to extend our stay by another night and the front desk could not do it without waiting for the reservation staff to arrive which wasn't to happen until 10am. Essentially we had to pack up, check out and be checked back in later. Needless to say we did not stay. '

'Hotel was in good location in Hilo. From other reviews, they state this is the nicest hotel in Hilo. I would agree with that assessment, though the property could use a refresher. The area this hotel is located in is a bit rundown, homeless in the area. The hotel next door is shuttered which gave the area an abandoned feel. But I am not sure if there are any better areas in Hilo since it is a smaller town/city. Some food options in walking distance but I would recommend driving into town...

'The start of the stay started off well with Sarge, the property manager, and all, with him cooking for us and welcoming us in. The rules were very strict in having no outter footwear inside the house. The property was nice with a stray cat, named White Knight, being around the property to be there during your stay. 'Location was perfect to avoid Hilo traffic it you frequent to Volcano National Park or Mauna Kea or Kona. Kelly is an amazing host and her breakfast was amazing that personalized vegan/ vegetarian preferences as well. Kitchen was well stocked that guests can use for preparing their own meals. Hot tub is well kept and open till 10 pm. '
