Elephant safari in Kaziranga National Park

Located in the North Eastern state of Assam, Kaziranga National Park is home to the great one-horned Rhinoceros. The park is also known to have the highest density of Rhinos in the world.
These huge mammals (endangered) can also be found at Chitwan National Park in Nepal, and Laokhawa Reserve forest in Assam.

Kaziranga is the only national park in India where the Rhinos population is most abundant. Once known to harbour the population of 3 species of Rhino, but today it holds the world's largest population of the Greater One- Horned Rhinoceros. Poaching Pre - Independence led to the disappearce of the other two.

This photo was taken on an elephant ride. Though you can get very close to them, it is not ideal for photography ( I still managed to capture this smiling Rhino ✌), since elephants tend to move a lot.
