Welcome to the Smith Lake Retreat! Located in the heart of Rock Creek, you are convenient to everything on Smith Lake. We offer a 2025 Bentley tritoon available to rent during your stay to enjoy one of the cleanest lakes around. This cozy cabin features two inviting bedrooms and a loft. Each bedroom has queen bed and an on suite. The loft has a full size bed. With three full bathrooms, you'll have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cabin host large decks for entertaining, grilling, and enjoying the outdoors,
Nestled in a serene setting complete with a cave and waterfall, it's the perfect spot to relax and soak in nature's beauty. Enjoy year-round water access and your own private dock, making it easy to explore the beautiful Smith Lake. Whether you're looking for adventure or a peaceful getaway, our cabin is the ideal retreat for unwinding and making memories.

  • Final resting place for Brother Joseph, who created the art that is known as Ave Maria Grotto.This is a cemetery of only monks in residence at St. Bernard Abbey. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Brother Joseph rarely left Alabama, where he died in 1961.

Perfect home away from home!

Our stay at Smith Lake was wonderful! We brought two teenagers for Rock the South, and this location was perfect. It was a short drive, but just what we were looking for. The cabin itself was great! We loved the fabulous decks and the view of little cove and other surroundings were just so peaceful and relaxing. We were even able to take our little furbaby! Shannon was super, super helpful and even offered advice on where to eat and park when we headed to Rock the South. We also rented the boat every day and enjoyed the lake so much! We highly recommend!! and we will definitely be back!!

we had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful Smith Lake cabin, and it was an amazing experience. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your lovely retreat! The views were absolutely stunning, providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway.One of the highlights was being able to rent the owners brand new pontoon boat, which allowed us to enjoy the lake in a whole new way - a fantastic addition to our trip. We especially loved that both rooms had their own full bathrooms, making our stay even more comfortable and convenient. Everything inside the cabin looked to brand new and well-maintained, clearly cared for with attention to detail. We definitely plan to return and look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful and scenic escape!

One of the best vrbo rentals

Our stay at the Smith Lake cabin was amazing! Shannon was very accommodating to make sure we had everything we needed prior to arrival. The cabin was immaculate, updated and clean. It was “just right” to feel at home, but without the stress. The location was perfect to make you feel secluded but close enough to amenities so you can make quick runs. The view of the lake is absolutely gorgeous. The description of the trail does not do it justice. The property has a trail leading to a cavern like area that is amazing! They have beautiful lights along the trail at night which makes it so majestic. The kids loved being out by the trail. We can not wait to book again during the summer and enjoy the lake.
