  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Host was not prepared for our stay. Waited 30 minutes for him to clean while we waited outside. Beds had a sheet and a folded blanket on them. Towels were dirty and there were hairs in the shower. Walls were stained and there was junk piled up in the backyard. All the doors had locks with keys in them and letters above the door. It was very creepy.

Very cozy and effecient home. Close enough to the highway and local stores even big chain stores. But far enough away to not deal with a lot of traffic and people. Additionally Pascal is a great host super friendly and attentive!

There were no check-in or check-out instructions. There were no garbage bags in the containers. I contacted the owner several times for the code to get into the place and received no response from him. I waited about half an hour then I had to call customer service in order to get touch with the owner to give us the code to get in. I was on the phone with customer service and the owner was very rude, yelling and being condescending to me. He yelled and screamed at me on the phone - check the recordings from Customer Service. Ibmade sure that the call was recorded so that I had proof of him berating me over the phone. It was so late I had no choice to stay in the house because I had traveled over 4 hours to get to the property. I would not recommend this property until the owners respect their customers.

This is not VRBO quality! I was never contacted about check-in until a couple of hours before. I called several times but had to sweat it out. There were four towels/wash rags for a place that sleeps 15. We bought more and left them. The a/c condensation was running across the hall floor. The back patio is a construction dump. The washer & dryer was inaccessible because the doors had a note that said do not open/will fall. There were no trash bags for trash. None of the beds had top sheets. The MB bath sink had the hot water shut off, had used toothbrush on the sink and there was a used bar of soap in the bathtub. The smoke detector was in a chair with no batteries. The internet failed on the first day and never worked again/no TVs. The MB bed is chest high to a 5' tall person. The place is very old and falling apart.

Home needs work has potential

Subject: Feedback and Concerns About the HouseI sent this to the manager and received no response. 1Signs of Flooding and Mold: Upon entering the house, there was a strong smell of mold. I noticed visible mold in Bedroom B and in the hallway on the baseboards. The smell lasted the whole time even with cooking and candles. Each time we left and came back it was pungent when you walked through the door2. Kitchen Supplies: Unfortunately, the available pots and pans are not sufficient for our cooking needs. We purchased pots and plans to accommodate our needs. 3. Kitchen sink leaked and had to be repaired. They can within the hour but could not repair but made it usable. 4Backyard Fencing: There was evidence of a new nice fence having been installed. However the old fencing and other debris in the backyard was an eye sore and a hazard. It should have been removed before renting. 5Bedroom B – Window Blinds: The blinds on both windows in Bedroom B are broken and not functional. Floor is warped and visible mold and water damage is on the baseboards. No washer and dryer as listed unless in the closet with the sign that said do not enter. A partial refund of half is requested.

Thank you for letting us stay in your home—it’s a very cute place. I wanted to share some feedback from our stay that I hope will be helpful in improving the experience for future guests.We didn’t receive any check-in or check-out instructions, We also ended up spending more than we had anticipated on this trip, partly because the house wasn’t as well-stocked or maintained as we expected.There were 7 of us, but only 5 shower towels provided, which wasn’t ideal. The kitchen had very limited cookware—only two medium pans and one flat pan, which was unfortunately dirty when we arrived. There were no kitchen towels or dishwasher soap, despite the presence of a dishwasher. One of the pipes under the kitchen sink was loose and leaking. I notified you right away this would be addressed until after our stay. There were no hangers available for clothing and no hair dryer in the house—both of which are typically standard in short-term rentals. My sister also found two small beetle-like bugs on one of the beds, which was understandably concerning. The backyard was not clean, and although it rained during our stay, it didn’t appear to be a usable or maintained space regardless. Lastly, I reached out the day before check-in for details and followed up again the day of check-in to let you know we’d be arriving around 3:30 PM. Check-in was listed for 3:00 PM, we didn't get the door code until 3:48, We appreciate your attention to these issues and hope this feedback helps improve.

Nice place with good amenities!

We moved some family to Ohio and were looking for a closer place that could accommodate 3 adults in separate rooms. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, easy check in and a very responsive host. Would definitely recommend!!

Anime Night @ Reynoldsburg

Only issue was the cleaners cleaned the wrong property and the place wasn’t set up upon arrival. However, host showed up in the middle of the night to make sure place was situated and get us in when he realized the mistake. Place was as advertised, comfortable, and clean despite this.

Easily fixable things.

There was a lot of little things. For a place that sleeps 15, there were only 4 towels and 2 blankets. But the owner brought more right away. The blinds were messed up in some of the rooms. The one closet door fell on us (while looking for blankets). The smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector were missing. The deadbolt didn't work. There was water damage in the suite bath. Camera was on in the living room. Left over used tooth paste and bar soap. Someones underwear under one of the beds. Overall, a nice place but just needed someone to handle the fine details.
