The house was clean and the property area was great! We loved sitting on the deck each morning and evening with our coffees and wine. We will definitely consider this place the next time we come to Carbondale!
A very nice place for which Id rent again. I would have given it a 5/5 but we had trouble with the wifi (which was unplugged) and tv (which I had to use my personal app to watch) and this took over 2 hours for us to resolve on our own despite texting for help. I suggest they buy some new kitchen pans, which were very used and actually dirty. Also the upstairs bathroom door knob kept falling off. Lastly, I would suggest a few "comfortable chairs" so a few people could sit together awhile. The existing chairs were not comfortable at all. That said, we very much enjoyed our stay and I would recommend the house to anyone visiting the Shawnee Wine Trail. The very clean hot tub added a nice touch. thanks for sharing.
We loved the home and its beautiful location. The rental company did a good job with communication as we had family show up unexpectedly. Also had some racoons in the garbage first night we were there. Garbage is not in a secure location and its only picked up once a week.But.......My only suggestion for this place is the way it is setup. We all choose homes to rent so we can feel like its a home away from home. It so desperately needs comfortable seating. The couch only seats 3 people. There are lots more places available for more seating so you walk in and theres a large area with nothing in it. The tv is placed above the fireplace with power cords hanging down, which seems a bit dangerous. There are no lamps anywhere in the house, so you are stuck with overhead harsh lighting. The basement bedrooms have no windows, which I am not sure meets code. Very random kitchen items to use for cooking. And checkout is at 10 am? If you want a late checkout they charge you for another 86. Where does that number even come from? I think this house has great potential for a VRBO, but it is run by a rental company and they need to add some love and thoughtfulness to this place. A few more seating options in the living room and basement would be a great start! If you only have 4 people and eat out then this is a great place for you!
Great location with easy access to many wineries breweries and dining options within 20 minutes. Management company communication very good but asks for additional contract and terms after you agree to VRBO terms. Charged excessive pet feed only to arrive to a house that smelled of pets and stale cigarette smoke. House is much smaller than in the pictures, no en suite baths though both baths were nicely sized. Cheap laminate flooring in the common areas not hardwood and is peeling up in many places.
The house location, layout, proximity to town and amenities were just perfect and so fitting to what I love and my family loves. The house has the perfect touches with everything we needed. The extra large washing machine was a bonus! We had bonfires every night and sat outside on the upstairs deck during the day. We soaked in the hot tub on a rainy afternoon. In less than 10 minutes, we could hit the gas station, restaurants and grocery stores. We already booked it for next year closer to fall.
We visited this property as an extended family: parents, (2) sets of adult children and spouses, and 2 small children. We had plenty of space, and the property was wonderful! We had a bonfire going the whole time, we spent time in the hot tub, and the living space was large enough we could all hang out inside when needed. Only thing I would ask is for a grill! Otherwise the place had everything we could've needed!
We had 7 lively women who wanted to not only celebrate a 60th birthday but also relive our SIU days! This property was perfect. One Queen bed upstairs, twin and queen downstairs. Spacious bathrooms including one with dual shower stalls. Lots of space and outdoor space was so peaceful. Very close to all things Carbondale!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The wood panelling and the vaulted ceiling and the view were all so pretty. Very nice bathroom and kitchen. Lovely, very clean bedrooms and bedding. Super clean throughout. My only complaint is that the hot tub cover needs replacing. It was really difficult to open and close it. But, it was hot on a very cold January day.
Three couples went to stay at the beautiful house and were in awe from moment we stepped in. It was so beautiful and clean. The views from the back porch and hot tub were so amazing. It was the perfect place to stay to do the wine trail. We appreciated all the communication from our host. Would definitely stay again.
This was a great place for our girls trip. We enjoyed the beautiful view, large gathering space in the great room, and comfortable sleeping quarters! This location was great for hiking nearby, many restaurants, and access to anything you need! We loved eating on the porch, relaxing in the hot tub, and sitting on the patio in the rocking chairs, looking out at the scenery. Easy access and direction as well as a wonderful guide for our stay sent to us upon booking (so much helpful info for planning a great trip in southern Illinois).
We arrived at the property and had the easiest time entering. We loved the views from the back decks. We enjoyed a rainy morning with hot coffee on the deck during our stay. The hosts provide everything you need for a short stay! Great location for the local wineries and hiking trails as well! Highly recommend!
We ladies had a great couple of days in wine country. It was so nice for all four of us to have our own bed. The house is roomy and was very clean with all the amenities needed. We would recommend it! Be aware, it is closer to the road than we expected, but there was no traffic noise. Also, there are no shades on the main floor windows. Nice location. Close to the wine trail and Carbondale, even a Dollar General. Great stay!
Very nice and newer property between Carbondale and Giant City State Park. And near several wineries. Very clean and well accommodated. Didnāt get to use all of the amenities but was still excellent.
Very nice location perched on top of bluffs and at lease one shelter bluff that Indians once used. Ideal location for getting to lakes for fishing and close to town for awesome pizza. The house itself is set up very nicely, especially with the lower and upper decks, focking chairs, fire pit and enjoyable nature. Will return again for sure.
We rented this property for a quick girls weekend. There were 5 of us and we all had plenty of space. Everyone said their bed was comfortable. I loved the mix of indoor and outdoor gathering areas, and the view was so nice! The property owner did a great job of communicating and when I had questions, she responded quickly. Great stay!
My spouse and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this property for two nights. The cleanliness and upkeep of the place immediately struck us, radiating a warm and inviting atmosphere that suggested it had been recently updated or remodeled. The kitchen boasted an impressive refrigerator and stove/oven, complemented by a convenient washer and dryer.
The bedrooms were tastefully furnished and decorated, enhancing the overall comfort of our stay. A highlight of our visit was spending time in the spacious great room, which served as a cozy retreat during a weekend marked by near-zero temperatures outside, thanks to an efficient furnace that kept the interior pleasantly warm.
We also had the opportunity to enjoy the hot tub on Saturday, which offered a magnificent view. Although the cold weather prevented us from using the deck, it's a feature we look forward to experiencing on a future visit. We intend to rent this property again, encouraged by the manager's prompt and helpful responses to our inquiries.
