Vacances de Bodružal

Quel accueil! Nous n'étions pas sitôt arrivés que notre hôte nous ouvrait la porte et nous présentait les lieux. Le logis,tout simple, était propre et confortable. Nous avons bien dormi. À heure convenue, notre charmant hôte nous a servi un déjeuner savoureux et copieux, à un prix très abordable, tout en nous prodiguant des infos précieuses sur les attraits des environs, à savoir les différents lieux pour voir les montagnes Tatras ainsi que le charmant vieux village Spišska Sobota.

The hotel says customers have to notice them in case of late check-in, so we called the lobby around 20:15 on August 23 and a woman told us (on a dry and quite bothered tone) to send an email, which she simply replied to that it is fine to arrive late because the lobby is open 24/7. Upon our arrival, we got welcomed by a nice man at the lobby. We were glad it was not the same woman. The hotel is well-kept but looks more like a campsite. The room is not very nice for the price point, however we appreciate it was very clean. The lighting is awful though and it was impossible to create a nice atmosphere. Furthermore, the pillows are either way to small (flat like a carpet and small like a A4 paper sheet) or so big and high that you will snap your neck trying to sleep on them. The biggest surprise was the next morning, when the hotel blasted loud music starting from 08:00 non-stop. We could have sung along from our bed if we wanted to. So we went to the breakfast because it was literally impossible to sleep in. Do not expect a quiet start of the day. There are kids screaming and running around everywhere because of the playground located inside the restaurant. It was impossible to find a table away from the noise. The choice of food was poor and the quality was questionable, but one of the staff member was very nice to us. At last, the woman at check-out was very very nice but we felt relieve to finally leave this place. Very expensive for what it is...

The pension is located in a residential area of Poprad, a bit far from historical center, but there are some restaurants around. There was nobody to welcome me but I received all the necessary instructions to get to the room. Internet was sometimes slow and unreliable. Disappointing point was that the pension was not so quiet: dogs in the neighborhood barking until late in the evening and we hear very well when other guests are using water.

The check-in process was very poor. It relied on an unreliable-looking website that was mostly in Slovak and was difficult to get working (only partly on English). Communication with the hotel was also clumsy, and there was no information provided about breakfast or other practical matters. The bathroom drain was blocked, causing the bathroom to flood. Housekeeping was also lacking. At the very least, fresh towels and basic room cleaning during the stay would have been appreciated. It was impossible to make the room properly dark because the curtains let too much light through, so I woke up around 5 a.m. every morning. The breakfast was good.
