Fabuleux séjour en famille
Nous avons passé quelques jours très reposant au Taj Bentota.
Les chambres sont confortables et refaites à neuf.
La piscine et la plage sont facilement accessibles.
Le personnel est vraiment très gentil et accueillant.
Enfin le restaurant Shack est notre préféré avec une belle sélection de fruits de mer.

Below average, not sure how is this a 5 star hotel. Very limited dining options, one restaurant serving only Indian food. Also avoid paying extra for the sea view room as you cannot see the sea at all, will attach a photo of the view.

Beautiful location. Our room was large with a lovely terrace overlooking the ocean. Staff were kind and welcoming. Restaurants and bar were great. Breakfast was excellent. Pool area is very good and beach beautiful.

Good location, right on the beach, the hotel feels old, the rooms are dated, not to a modern 5 star standard, but all made up due to the kitchen staff, especially Piyush the executive chef and Dalip, who took very extra care of us and made our stay special . Would definitely recommend it for the service. They made special vegan food for us, 5 stars to them.

We got to the hotel late and we were given a room with a broken balcony door. The person who took us to the room had to struggle to open the balcony door for us therefore I asked was it broken and he said no it’s not and left the door open. I went to have a shower and my husband went to the balcony and the door got shut by the wind and he could not open the balcony door from outside to get back to the room even though it was not locked!!! He was knocking the door from the outside until I came out from the shower because I did not hear the knocking noise… It was round midnight that time therefore we went to bed because we were very tired from the travel that day and when we were leaving, made a complaint and asked the manager to fix the door lock as well as knowingly providing a room that was marked for repair was NOT GOOD and he agreed to investigate but not sure what he’s done up to now because we had no contact from the hotel up to now… I would have been worse if my husband was alone because he has stay until next morning for someone to notice he’s stuck in the balcony…
Food and location were OK but nothing special. We weren’t treated VIP and in truth we were treated worse than a normal customer.
Compared to Taj Samudra in Colombo, Sri Lanka I don't think I would give 2 out of 10 for this hotel

Front desk female staff, Restaurant bar waiter and Breakfast host very unfriendly and not at all service oriented.. Hotel was catering to Indian client . Perfect get away
Our stay was perfect. The check in was smooth. The welcome drink was refreshing. The Property was beautiful. We checked in late evening, didn't like the room that was allocated to us, informed the Reception and were helped with a change of room immediately. Their sensitivity to our request and quick action set the tone for the rest of the stay. Food at the Shack as well as The Palm was great. The Property is connected to the Beach wherefrom the Son could book his water sports while we lounged. Overall a great stay.

Large hotel.The floors are a little confusing .The wonderful beach is quite a walk from the hotel pool, which is on the 4th floor of the hotel ( overlooking the beach and gardens.The curved pool was busy with families during our stay.
Main restaurant serves buffet style breakfast/lunch/dinner with plenty of choice for most tastes.The little publicised Seaview Restaurant
serves fantastic and very reasonably priced a la carte food.As always in Sri Lanka,be very cautious with the wine- it is expensive and generally not well-kept and therefore often past its best.
Not much to see in Bentota itself.
This hotel is probably best for families who wish to stay put,but it is not cheap.

Taj Bentota is a beautiful resort . Our room with a large balcony overlooking the sea was very comfortable and we were well looked after by our room attendant Janaka. He was always helpful and courteous . Food at all the restaurants was good . We enjoyed going to the Oriental Pavilion Chinese restaurant and Sea View restaurant where food and service by waiters was excellent. Daily buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Palms was of high quality too with a huge choice of delicious regional and international cuisine. Sam, waiter at The Palms was particularly efficient , providing excellent service. At reception Dumith Nonis was very pleasant and helpful .
Overall the entire hotel ambience is pleasing though some areas could do with a bit of renovation , like the ensuite bathroom in our room 424 and some of the toilets and changing rooms in public areas of the hotel.

Its not Taj !!
We could not convince chef of best known Indian 5 star hotel to have atleast one Indian dessert in the buffet especially when Indians are one of major occupants at the hotel. Food scores zero if dessert is missing.
Dirty closets, old bathroom fittings. I can’t believe there is no hand-shower in bathroom. Just not good enough. Staff also of mixed quality, some of them can’t speak one English sentence properly. Im wondering if Taj India has outsourced facilities at Bentota to some contractor to manage to their behalf ?

FAR FROM 5-Star more like 3-3.5
The Taj is coasting based on the Prestigious name. A complete disappointment and no where near a 5 star. Multiple issues one after another and we were approached by two managers one at dinner and the other upon checkout.
This hotel is not an indicator of the general Sri Lankan hospitality. More of an embarrassment for me as a native Sri Lankan that came to Sri Lanka to propose to my girl friend and then did a mini tour with her and my best friend, both of whom are first time travelers to Sri Lanka.

We had an amazing time at Taj in Bentota, our little one in particular was spoilt by the staff who all went out of their way to ensure he had the best time. We enjoyed all the facilities especially the pool and the spa. Food choices at the Taj are great, there is plenty of choice and the quality is exceptional, who doesnt love a dosa for breakfast?! The main Palms restaurant caters for all and has a great range of options, we also tried the Chinese restaurant one of the evenings and again the choices and food were great.
The beach is clean and just perfect for sunset views and for kids to play and build sandcastles. My husband and myself enjoyed some spa time too, the treatments were nice and again the staff were great.
Definitely come back to the Taj and back to Bentota, we had a great little family holiday and it was made perfect by the Taj and its amazing team!

The hostel is a bit old need refurbishment, the area is poor, can not go out of hotel, not recommended for more than 2 days.

I liked that it was clean, nice location, good breakfast.
Dinner was disappointing, very short on staff at the restaurant, a tad rude, no waiters to fill water, clean tables.
Room was good but right above stairs facing the pool so no privacy if you stand in the balcony. Bathroom needs a major update. Mold, flush not work, old style toilet and bathtub, sink was very low. Only one charging plug in the room. Iron and hair dryer needs to be changed.

if you choose this place nothing will go wrong. i stayed in some other Taj group resorts in India and you expect the same standard everywhere.
