This is a five start hotel. Is it excellent? I’d say, just about average in the 5 star category. If the cost per night would be similar, go for Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, Ritz or Mandarin and so on. If Kempinski trades at half cost per night of the usual leaders then maybe a good choice but the overall high ratings for the Kempiniski Sindhorn hotel on Expedia are too high. Think of it as all the ones that are rating this hotel are family’s with kids or a consultant that stays for a week.
I like really excellent luxury hotels and this hotel doesn’t make the cut in my honest opinion. You can get equally good hotels in Bangkok for US 250/300 per night.
But let me finish with a few positives: large rooms, balcony, good AC with low noise levels, comfortable beds, quiet, some room comes with pentry if you like to cook on your holiday or travel with kids, good location and easy to haul cabs, comfortable distance to most places, washing machine, iron and ironing board of good quality, overall a solid place for staying longer with kids or for work. But less of a weekend hotel.
