« It’s the perfect stay to stop just off the M6 when driving from Scotland to England. It’s a beautifully decorated pub, with lovely staff and excellent breakfast and dinner. This time our ferry was cancelled from Mull and so we had to change the booking at the last moment. They were understanding and there was no problem rolling over the booking until we could get off the island. We will be forever loyal to this wonderful stop just south of Penrith. »

« The doors operate on a keycode system so it's very much an air bnb set up rather than a staffed pub. There are very few instructions of where to go or what to do. The room was quite dirty - thick gunk in the shower, a pube, hairs on the bedding and a stained bed base. The room was also absolutely freezing after the radiators switched off at 10pm. I woke up at 2am cold and slept in my hat. There were no additional blankets, no electric radiator, loads of condesation and damp on the inside of...

« comfortable room in a great location. we did not eat at their restaurant, but everybody we met in town recommended eating there... particularly good steaks apparently. We will eat there the next time we stay there. »

« Lovely sized room above a pub. The check in staff was amazing, helped carry the bags up the stairs explained everything, gave us a late check out for the following day. Very nice. »

« Lovely hotel / inn with huge stylish bedrooms and fantastic bar with open fire. Food (fresh pizza) was amazing - some really interesting flavours. Breakfast fresh and very hearty. Highly recommended! Can’t remember the last time I went to a hotel this good. »
