« We arrived at the lodge’s main entrance road sign about 6pm, myself and two young daughters after a full day of driving, tired and hungry. The main entrance road was blocked by trees branches clearly arranged in a line across the road. No written sign to redirect traffic or explain. We drove on to see if there was another entrance, there was none. we drove back to the main entrance I got out of the car removed the branches and drove up to the lodge to find the road had been washed away a short...

« Remote glamping. Feels like a miracle that this camp in the middle of the Serengeti has hot water, electricity, Internet, and white tablecloth dining. Staff are friendly and helpful. This is not for the faint hearted or light sleeper. There are delightful animal noises at night. Baboons come into the camp at dusk. You need an escort to the dining tent after dark (easily arranged by telephone). I had a buffalo outside my tent one night. I never felt unsafe though.
I would strongly recommend to...

« We had a great stay at lilac hideaway but the thing that stood out most are the way they stepped up to help guests with travel plans
We rented a dud 4x4 and it would not start after we checked in - but Eli jumped in an d organized mechanics to come and then drove with us to take the car to the mechanics once they had gotten a new battery in. The car had no brake or transmission fluids and an corroded alternator wire - Eli stayed at the mechanic while we got some food next door
The mechanics...

« Great location (for one or more nights) en route to/from Serengeti and Ngorogoro, just 30 mins drive from entrance to the latter. In the opposite direction are the Taragine and Lake Manyara National Parks, both about 1.00-1.25 hours’ drive away. Situated in well-maintained and secure grounds, the individual rooms/lodges are generally of a high standard and quiet. Staff were exceptionally attentive. Food was buffet style - ok but no more than average. Live entertainment (local dancers &...
