Charming Direct Oceanfront North Shore Beach House

Direct oceanfront north shore beach house! This home is directly off Sand piles surf break. It sits on the edge of Waiehu Beach and is the last oceanfront home before Waiehu golf course. It is perfect for a laid back local Maui experience away from the crowds. Go for morning beach walks or sit and watch the surfers. Enjoy the evenings listening to the waves crash against the shoreline. Comprehensive remodel completed in February 2024.

The house sits about 20 feet from the ocean. We love having meals out by the water. Some of the features of the home include:

The shoreline in front of the house is cobblestone. We love seashell hunting and surfing right off the back of the property, but we do not recommend swimming here. We recommend driving to one of the many great sandy beaches nearby if you are going to do a beach day. Most guests spend the mornings and evenings enjoying the house and the shoreline. During the day they explore the rest of the island as the house is centrally located, so it is only a short drive to about anywhere on Maui.

The upstairs and downstairs of the home is connected with an outside stairway which is common in Hawaii. There is only one house on the property. Guests have the whole property to themselves and access to the entire house except the garage.

Quiet Hours:
9:00pm – 8:00am; during which time the noise from the Short-term Rental Home shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors. Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
Amplified sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries of the rental homes is prohibited.

Parking: Vehicles shall be parked in the designated onsite parking spaces andshall not be parked on the street.

Parties: No parties or group gatherings other than registered guests shall occur. Check in 4:00pm, Check-out 11:00am Exceptions may be possible upon request in advance from the host.

Shoreline Advisory: The shoreline is the property of the people of Hawaii and is open for the free use by everyone.

Water shut-off and circuit breaker panel locations can be viewed on the Fire Escape Plan mounted in each bedroom.

Stunning view! So roomy for our family of 6. We loved the two separate areas. Beds were so comfortable and house was very clean and well equipped. Each room had its own AC unit which was nice too. Wish we had another day so we could have enjoyed the house more.

The home was a beautiful place for our team to meet and plan the year as well as relax. It provided wonderful space to gather insight and outside the home and the kitchens upstairs and downstairs were a great bonus. The house was nice in a great location. We met the neighbors and everyone was very nice. We did not realize it was 2 separate living spaces. To get upstairs, you had to go outside. It was fine for us but we did feel separated from the other 2 families

I stayed here this past weekend with my 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren for a family event...3 nights. The text notifications were extremely helpful and eliminated any questions about our stay. The entire house (upstairs and downstairs) was very clean, nice and comfortable. Although we were primarily here to shower and sleep, the air conditioning throughout the house ensured comfortable temperatures inside whenever we returned to rest or regroup. We will definitely be staying here again should our entire family return to Maui. Thank you for ensuring we had a very comfortable stay.

Great location

This house is at great location. Ocean right in the backyard with views is awesome. Although there is no beach as such but if you like to surf this is perfect. House is nicely kept and has all essentials. We were 8 of us and it was very comfortable. Although it would have been ideal to have another half bathroom downstairs as there is only one shared full bath but it was not too much of an inconvenience. Overall we had great experience and enjoyed our stay!

When we arrived to the property we were excited due to the amazing views and the fact that you can walk to the beach in about 3 minutes. Unfortunately the inside of the house is much more worn down than what the images show online. In addition, the couches )upstairs and downstairs) were stained and the shower curtain in the bathroom was moldy along with the mattress and curtains in the downstairs bedroom. When I messaged the owner about our concerns he was very accommodating. He had clean sheets to put over the couches and asked how he could help with the mold situation. Overall he was a very gracious host, but the house was not what we expected.

Josh was very accommodating. The right up on the house is very accurate. Our family loves the house and the location. We loved sitting on the lanai and watching the sun rise and the surfer’s every morning. Would stay here again!

We were a group of 6, us parents, 2 adult daughters, our son in law and 17 yo grandson. We looked forward to our trip for months, and truly wanted to love the place. We did gather from the home description that this was not a "resort" type destination but we were ready to enjoy the reported views, charm and laid back qualities of the home. The lot is large and oceanfront with a well kept lawn area. The downstairs master is cramped and dark with a small obscured slider that opens onto a small concrete patio, it is very difficult to open/close. The other downstairs bedroom was similarly small and dark, and it's small window looks directly onto the large eyesore condemned properties next door. Sadly, people are living there. The upstairs area has a large master bedroom with 4 widely spaced small windows. The master bath is small and the tub/shower is rusty and uninviting. Window coverings throughout were in disrepair and couches were stained. The refrigerator does not keep contents cold. The slider off the upstairs kitchen is also very difficult to open/close. There is one couch upstairs and one downstairs. We wanted a place that would allow all 6 of us to gather together comfortably as well as provide privacy and rest. We tried to make the best of it but ultimately, and despite the significant unanticipated expense, we could not allow ourselves to spend our limited and hard earned vacation time in this home and left after our 2nd night. We found another property to rent that was well maintained, comfortable and accommodating and it saved our vacation. If all you want is a bare bones home base to enjoy Maui from this may be serviceable.

Windows and sliders so dirty it was hard to see out. Broken locks on doors and windows. Pictured outside furniture not there. Soft lumpy mattresses. AC barely worked. Ants in kitchen. Not even a bar of soap for the shower or other sundries. Condemned houses next door occupied by homeless. We paid for a week and left after 1 nite. We have pictures to back this up.

Great Property with the beach as your Backyard

My family and I spent a week at this house and thoroughly enjoyed it! We especially enjoyed the beach/ocean immediately behind the home. It was equipped with several body boards, ice chest and beach chairs that we used all week. The functioning kitchen upstairs was great and the kitchenette downstairs was handy for quick stuff. Would definitely rent this house again! Thank you!

Josh, the property owner did a good job describing this property. Reading the other reviews were helpful as well. As the July 2018 review states: Advise everyone to have appropriate expectations since this home IS at the edge of the ocean and becomes weathered with salt and wind. We did enjoy listening to the waves, sifting through the driftwood on the beach and watching the beautiful sunrises. The surfers were right next door, evidentially it’s a favorite spot for local surfers, which were fun to watch. Some cons: the dishwasher does not do a good job washing the dishes. Buy a non-stick pan, the lockboxes were hard to open and shut. Pros: right on the beach, 15 minutes from Costco, Safeway and Whole Foods, in a residential area, sandy beach and surfers right next door, comfy beds and soft sheets. We enjoyed our time there and it worked well for our group of six. Josh did a great job with communication, including sending us information way in advance on arrival and departure info, house manual, places to eat, hikes, beaches, transportation, grocery stores and a map of the island.

Get the “local” feel

Let me start by saying that we really enjoyed our time at this home. Our group consisted of 2 families (4 adults, 2 teenagers & 2 kids in their 20’s). The home was plenty spacious for us all, and was well stocked with towels, snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. We chose to have the parents stay in the upstairs unit, and kids downstairs. Access to the nearest beach is just about 50 yards down the street, and we spent countless hours on the back patio, enjoying the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks at the edge of the property. The home is conveniently located, but not in the typical “tourist” areas. You’ll find yourself primarily amongst locals, not resorts and hotels. In fact, I’m not sure I saw a building more than two stories tall. WalMart, Target, and several grocery stores are near by, convenient to provision your stay. Josh, the owner, was extremely accommodating. He allowed us to arrive a little ahead of our scheduled “check-in” time, and checked in with us periodically throughout our stay. It’s also very apparent that he’s continuing to maintain and improve the property. Even during our stay, he was having a very nice privacy fence installed at the edge of the property; helping to buffer from an unattractive property next door. Lastly, I’d advise everyone to have appropriate expectations. This is a home that IS at the edge of the ocean. If you understand how salt and wind impacts a home, then you’ll understand that there will always be some amount of “weathering”, even with constant maintenance and upkeep. If you need the Ritz Carlton, this home is not for you. If you want clean, comfortable, private, and to be immersed in the local environment, it’ll be a perfect fit. Mahalo

House Needs Attention to Detail

Josh was very responsive to our needs but the house needs attention. Generally not very clean - had to hand wash virtually every dish we used although they were in the cabinets as clean. Master toilet seat was loose and toilet was not properly attached to floor. Josh did get AC replaced pronto and provided additional wash clothes we requested as well as ant spray. Upstairs was generally in better condition than downstairs.

Blessed in Maui!

We traveled with 3 other couples to Maui to celebrate over 140 years of wedding anniversaries between us. We wanted a house near the ocean and we came across this charming direct oceanfront north shore beach house. First, the owner Josh, was extremely responsive to each and every inquiry we had prior to and during our visit. When we arrived we weren't disappointed. We were a short stones throw from the ocean and the house comfortably handled 8 adults. The rooms were spacious and accommodating. The kitchens were well stocked with all essential amenities to allow us to make breakfasts each morning and several evening dinners. It would have been nice to have 4 bathrooms with our situation, but it was never an issue. A family would find this house to met all their needs. They had beach chairs, snorkel equipment, travel guides, and other items to make for a wonderful vacation in Maui. The location of the house was in an older part of town, but once we met our neighbors we were at ease and settled into our daily routines. We were close to shopping and restaurants and within a short driving distance to numerous activities, such as, whale watching, golf, and beaches. Our favorite time was placing 8 chairs along the back of the house with coffee in hand as we watched God raise the sun each morning. The views were breathtaking and we saw numerous whales that greeted us with "pec slapping" and a now and again breach just to show off. The difficult part of our trip was saying goodbye. We were very thankful that Josh and his family shared their home with us. We were truly blessed in Maui!

Great place for 4 couples .

We stayed here with 4 couples and really enjoyed our time here. We loved being right near the water and watching th surfers and whales! The upper two rooms and kitchen and living area were newer and brighter with lots of windows, and the downstairs has a walkout toward the ocean. It was great for us!

Great location with a beautiful view!

We enjoyed our stay here! Coffee on the patio every morning while watching the sunrise. And then , the surfers come out so you can sit and have a second cup while watching the surfers. Really enjoyed listening to the waves at night as we fell asleep, too. We loved this home for a number of reasons...central to many different activities but allowed us privacy (not in the resort area) and space to relax, beautiful views, and Josh was so helpful with suggestions for beaches! He was always quick to reply and made our vacation a big success. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
