Perfect for what we were looking for! Private, pool to ourselves, cook when/if we wanted. Separate building for kitchen/living so not to disturb sleepy head! If you want to get around more, need a car, but for our time there, with grocery delivery, we didnât need. Not our first trip to Mexico, so a quiet retreat was perfect for us! Claudia was a very responsive host. Thank you!
Our stay was awesome with the peace and quietness. Pool was amazing. Along with the different birds along with the iguana who visited each day! Villa kuxtah we would love to return again! Thank you
2 weeks in this quiet home not far from a sweet Mexican town, cenotes, and beaches. The owners were easy to communicate with, and Manuela (the manager) met us. She was just a phone call away if you need anything. Thereâs also an incredible chef, Adela a 5 minute walk from Villa Kuxtah.
In our experience, Villa Kuxtah is perfect for a couple, 2 couples or a family. We only rented 1 of the 2 bedrooms that are available so canât speak to the 2nd bedroom. Ours was huge, with a comfortable bed (& pull out trundle bed underneath if you have kids) and attached bathroom, shower and walk in closet area. Air conditioning was perfect in the bedroom and kitchen living room/dining room space. Lots of screened doors too.
We used the pool all day every day. The hammocks and outside day bed are delightful, although you have to plan your timing given the heat.
I would say that this place is ideal for anyone who wants peace & quiet and not being in a resort. It will be easiest if you rent a car, as itâs off a busy road. The Mayan Train is being built so LOTS of trucks, but you seriously donât even hear them at the house! You could use a taxi in a pinch though. Loved Villa Kuxtah and give it a big thumbs up đ
The villa itself is perfect for one or two couples to stay. However, they fumigated just moments before our arrival. The owners said that they only fumigate the outside of the villa in order to keep the ants and many other critters at bay - which I appreciate. However, there was a very intense and potent chemical smell inside the living room and the bedroom. It was so bad that our eyes and throat burned after spending more than a few minutes inside, and we were waking up with a sore throat for the first three days of our stay. When we later mentioned this to the owners, they insisted that it was only only the outside of the villa that was fumigated and refused to offer compensation for the issue. In addition, upon our arrival there was no water pressure and the showers and sinks did not work. The groundskeeper was very responsive and got this issue fixed within a few hours of notifying her though. Just a little surprised no one caught this before our arrival. There is also a pretty intense septic smell that comes and goes in the living room area, especially when doing laundry. The internet comes and goes a bit, but I think that is to be expected for the area. Outside of these issues, the villa itself is a great resting spot away from the city, but super accessible by car. Spacious, great pool, beautiful, and secluded. But if you are at all sensitive to chemicals and smells, maybe consider another place for your stay.
