The Space:

Amalia Cottage sits back from Lake Ōkareka, wrapped in bush and tall trees and looking out over its own flat, sunny lawn. The setting is quiet and private, and the water, jetty and village tennis courts are all an easy stroll away.

- BEDROOMS -

Sleeps 4 in total. All bedding and linen supplied, with electric blankets on every bed.



- BATHROOM -

One bathroom with a walk-in shower, vanity and toilet.



- LIVING AREA -

The living, dining and kitchen flow together as one bright, open-plan space with big windows framing the garden. The lounge has comfortable leather and wicker seating and a Smart TV, and a heat pump keeps the whole space cosy. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering - cooktop, oven, dishwasher, full-size fridge-freezer, coffee machine and plunger, and a stone benchtop. A glass dining table seats the whole group, and a washing machine and dryer are tucked into the kitchen for longer stays.



- OUTDOOR AREA -

The standout is the covered deck running along the front of the cottage - an outdoor lounge suite, a dining setting for eight, outdoor heating and a gas BBQ, the kind of space you can use whatever the weather. Steps lead down to a flat, level lawn edged with garden, ideal for kids or a morning coffee in the sun.



- PARKING -

A single garage (the black shed) plus a large gravel driveway with room for several cars, all off-street. Lockable bike storage in the black shed makes this an easy base for riding the nearby Whakarewarewa forest trails.



Guest Access:

Guests have the whole cottage to themselves, along with the covered deck, the front lawn, the garage and off-street parking on the gravel driveway. Please note the caravan kept on site is locked and reserved for the owners' use. Anything you need during your stay, we are only a message away.



The Neighborhood:

Lake Ōkareka is a peaceful lakeside settlement just east of Rotorua, surrounded by bush and tall trees and known for its clean, quiet water. The cottage is an easy walk from the lake reserve, jetty and the village tennis courts, and the Lake Ōkareka walkway and boardwalk make for a lovely morning out. You are right on the doorstep of some of Rotorua's best-loved spots - the Blue Lake (Tikitapu) and Green Lake (Rotokākahi) are just up the road, the Whakarewarewa Redwoods and their forest and mountain bike trails are a short drive away, and the geothermal wonders of Te Puia and the lakefront hot pools at Polynesian Spa are about 15 minutes into town. The historic Buried Village of Te Wairoa is also close by.



Getting Around:

A car is recommended here. It is about a 15-minute drive into central Rotorua for shops, restaurants and the main attractions, and about the same out to Rotorua Airport. Off-street parking is easy with the garage and a large driveway. The Whakarewarewa mountain bike trailhead on Tarawera Road is only about 4 minutes away, and once you are settled in, the lake, jetty and tennis courts are all within a short stroll, with the Blue and Green Lakes and the Redwoods only minutes away by car.



Other Things to Note:

Access is down the shared driveway - take the second driveway on the left. You can park on the gravel patch beside the house or in front of the black shed. Please keep the main driveway clear as it is shared, and leave the way you came in, as the far end of the driveway is private to the neighbours. The caravan on site is locked and for the owners' use only. WIFI is provided throughout the cottage.
