Privately owned by the Pennington family for over 800 years it has a beautiful interior with a magnificent library, and most notably Himalayan Gardens. Eskdale walks from Eskdale campsite. A great place to pitch your tent. We took a 3km walk from the campsite, 1 1/2 hr moderate difficulty with a 20 Minute uphill ascent, through mine ruins and taking in a beautiful Tarn at the top.
