Hello Karl, We are very sorry about the way you felt about our home. We take pride in ownership and keep our home well maintained, reason for asking shoes to be removed. We do not have tattered carpets and the front bedroom window has sheers with room darkening curtains behind them. I think what you experienced was the porch light which could have been shut off from the inside light switch. I'll add a bedroom lamp on the nightstand. The washers & dryers are shared. We don't charge for the use of the laundry machines, but try to avoid everyone using them at the same time so that no one is inconvenienced or that laundry is not left in the machines. We offer a variety of pillows because we know everyone has their own preference, but will check to make sure there is still a variety on each bed and in the closets. The pictures depict our home and houseguest rules are part of an agreement when a booking is made. In the future, I suggest you read and look at what you're booking. Rich & Lori
