'We stayed at the Wheatsheaf to be within 10 mins drive of the RSPB Leighton Moss reserve. The room was quirky, bare floorboards and steps up to the bed because it's quite high off the floor! The food was excellent and not expensive and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.. Very happy to recommend this place and we'll definitely be staying again. '

'My partner and I came up north for a hike, we spent two nights here and it was great; a good location and a peaceful scenery. Breakfast was good as well. Post services was amazing as I lost my headphones, and they were able to find it and offered to send it via post. I would absolutely recommend this place.'

'Lovely hotel room, nicely decorated and the bed was luxurious and comfy. Bathroom was okay, but prefer walk in showers. It was very warm at night and unable to open the windows, although a fan was provided. Staff are excellent both at the bar, check in and breakfast. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and served with a smile. '

'This is the second time we've stayed at the Mason Freehouse, it was lovely the first time we stayed, which made us keen to return. Although it is now under new management, it's clear that the lovely, friendly, warm welcoming atmosphere is something the staff are keen to retain. We're looking forward to coming back and staying again, as the plans for new menus sound fantastic. Room sizes and facilities are very adequate for a short stay. 'The chalets are located around a lake with ducks and swans. Nice house with 2 bedrooms, a good sofabed, two badrooms and a complete kitchen. Very helpful reception. Sorry that we only booked one night. We will return!'
