Texas Blue Apple Cottage is in Medina, the Apple Capital of Texas, right next door to Love Creek Orchards and its apple store, with a country store, a patio cafe and a pumpkin patch in the fall. Locals will know the house as the old home of Elayne's Hairstyling; she did hair in Medina for years. The Medina River crossing at Moffett Park is about half a mile away, Lost Maples and Hill Country State Natural Area are each about 25 miles, and Bandera is a short drive.



The cottage has been remodeled, with a blue-and-white exterior, barn-style doors and hardwood floors. The living room has a big couch facing a Roku TV, and a large table doubles as a workspace. The full kitchen has a stove, oven, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, with a dining table for six. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, a sofa bed in the living room and a queen air mattress, so six can stay, plus a washer and dryer, central heat and air, and Wi-Fi. The shower head in the bathroom is a watering can.



Out back, a wooden deck and a patio have outdoor seating, and the backyard gives kids and pets room to run. There is a charcoal grill, and cornhole, cards, dominoes and puzzles for slower evenings.



Early check-in may be available on request. Every stay includes the Texas Hill Country Travel App, a local guide for exploring the area.



WHY WE LIKE IT

What we tell people about this one is that it is next door to an apple orchard in the Apple Capital of Texas, with a pumpkin patch there in the fall. The shower head is a watering can, which tends to get a reaction. And for a small house, it has a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a backyard where pets are welcome.
