Roomy 3 Bedroom w/Two-Levels - Makahuena 4303

Makahena at Poipu unit #4303: Go with the flow in this two-level, 1,380 square-foot, three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath haven. Pull up a barstool and watch your designated chef prepare your feast in the morning as you enjoy your coffee from your coffee maker. Seating is available for two more guests at the kitchen island overlooking the kitchen. The fully equipped kitchen offers cookware, a refrigerator, oven, stovetop, toaster, and microwave. After breakfast in the dining room which seats four, guests can clean up with ease in the sink or using the dishwasher.

After a day of exploration, your party of up to eight can rest comfortable in their chosen location on the sofa bed, king, queen, and two twins. There are two full baths and one-half bath so every guest can enjoy their space and make the Makahuena their vacation home. Amenities include WiFi, ceiling fans, washer/dryer, and two flat-screen cable TVs.

As of October 2022, our neighbors recently purchased the last coastline property on the south shore, called Makahuena Estates. They are in the process of building nine vacation rentals. Our unit at Makahuena #4303 is within closer proximity of the property line and may experience louder noise than usual from Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Makahuena Estates is an entirely separate property from our property. We will do our best to update information based on the project’s progress. We appreciate your understanding and loyalty as guests.

Our ocean view resort offers stunning views from each vacation condo. While we do not have air-conditioning in this unit, we have fans to help circulate the Pacific breeze. Each condo has a sliding glass door that opens onto the lanai, and windows throughout the space to help enhance the cross-breeze throughout the space.

Embrace the cool trade winds and the laid-back lifestyle of Kauai. Perched on Kauai's southernmost point, Makahuena features hotel-style amenities including a pool, sun deck, jet spa, tennis courts, free parking, and barbecue grills. You can walk to Poipu Beach Park for snorkeling and then refuel with ahi tacos at Brennecke’s Beach Broiler. On-site we offer property perks including a pool, jet spa, tennis court, and barbecue grills. There are no daily amenity fees. Parking is available to guests.

The picture is completely different from the ones on the site. Was kind of shoddy. It appears improvements are possibly forthcoming and some have happened, we hope so. Fridge leaks. Broken smoke detector. Batteries changed 3 times. Josh was great and showed up fast the first time. But no response when detector still didn’t work. Was beeping and actually alarmed in the middle of the night for no reason. This is supposed to be an 8 person unit but only allows 1 parking spot. Was given a hard time about getting a second pass both from Castle and on site management. Saying lot was full but it was never more than 3/4 full. We continued to park our 2nd car without problems tho. There were no checkout instructions so we hope we left it the way you wanted it.

IN A WORD - THE UNIT IS TIREDFirstly, the positive. The management company was highly responsive to any issues we had at the unit so kudos to them.That was pretty much the end of anything positive. The description of the unit is misleading. It says 2 level unit. It's not. There are no elevators and you need to go up two flight of stairs just to get to the condo front door. Then the unit lay out isn't what they described. You have to go up another flight of stairs from the living room area just to get to the two bedrooms, then another flight to get to the 3rd room. Ordinarily it would not be an issue other than the description is misleading, but my 95 year mother was staying with us. Imagine how difficult it was just to get to the front door much less going up and down to get to her bedroom.Overall the unit is OLD and really needs a lot of TLC to make it nice. The photos will tell the tale.I would definitely not recommend this unit.

Very old condo, bathrooms are not updated at all - floors coming up, old 70’s lighting, no AC - luckily it was so windy there was more than a breeze. The loft upstairs has carpet and stayed wet due to the climate and is very moldy. You can see the mold and dirt on the steps of the stairs. Refrigerator leaks inside. No water from the fridge. The ice machine works but leaks so you don’t have a full tray of ice. Kitchen is not updated. No beach chairs, snorkel gear, or sand toys. Was not happy with the condo especially for the price. The island itself is beautiful and amazing.

Beautiful views

This place had beautiful views of the ocean. There is no air conditioning, as stated in the descriptiom, but the winds coming in were enough for the main level and second level. The loft was a little toasty even with windows open and a fan. The pictures show a different set up then what the place has for furnishings. This place is on the third level of a complex. There is also three levels to the place, so lots of stairs. The second level has two bedrooms with on suite bathrooms in each. The third level is a loft with two twin beds and a full with a trundle. The main level does have a couch with a small pull out and a half bed. Those sleeping in the loft will need to use one of the on suite bathrooms for showers or go to the main level for the toilet. We did have eight people, but were only allowed one parking pass for our stay. The place is in a good location that you can walk along the ocean and get away from the crowds. It is within walking distance to a couple of beaches, however, if you are carrying a lot of things, you will need to drive. The complex also has a pool and hot tub and a great place to watch the ocean crash against the rocks.
