'There were no cocktails to be had At All ! The pillows need changing as they are like bricks and the Showers need a shower mat as it becomes very, very slippery. This is a shame, because everything else was Great.'

'Great stay - club room had a fantastic view of the Tyne and was very spacious. Parking on site - nice and easy. We also had a couple of complementary drinks when we arrived and a nice full English breakfast before we left. Bathroom a little dated but other than that we had a wonderful time. 'De eerste indruk was een beetje sjofeltjes, maar dat viel binnen best wel mee. Grote parkeerplaats. Het hotel ligt langs de A19 tussen de weilanden en ongeveer 10 minuten met de auto naar Hartlepool. Er is weinig personeel en zij hebben dan ook meerdere functies. Inchecken ging soepel. Wij hadden kamers aan de kant van de snelweg. Deze waren schoon en er waren genoeg handdoeken. Koffie en thee op de kamer. De naastgelegen snelweg is goed te horen, dit doordat de ramen verrot waren. 'The Royal Oak has a wonderful location in a quiet village setting and visitors can expect a relaxing change of pace. The countryside around is spectacular for England and the people are without exception friendly and helpful. I'm perhaps biased because my family lived in Gt Ayton in the early 19th Century and although I was born in North Yorkshire today, as a visiting southerner it's very much my home ground. 'Fantastic stay, lovely food and wonderful staff. Perfect location for Beamish, rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. The only down side really was that the room was hot and was unable to reduce the temperature.'
