'The room was clean and the breakfast was good The only issue was the stairs to the room as our room was on the 3 floors there were a lot of stairs to climb and we both OAP which was very tiring. On the hold it was a good experience but we would not stay again due to the stairs.'

'A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast.'

'Just spent 4 nights at the Brown Horse Inn. The staff were great. Food for breakfast and evening meal was excellent particularly the roast on Sunday. Great choice for breakfast. The Inn is very well placed to explore the South Lakes. Would happily recommend.'

'Clean and spacious room, sitting by the fire in the bar is lovely. Breakfast was delicious, however the room was freezing, the amazing staff member serving breakfast did turn on the heating but it didn't help much. '

'Ive had a lovely stay with my dog and got a room upgrade. Staff were very accommodating and answered all my questions. Lovely location overlooking the lake. Very clean room '
