'From the outside the hotel looked like any other country hotel, but once you step inside you almost notice straight away how tired looking the whole hotel is, the interior doors, the wallpaper. I stayed in room 17, didn’t sleep much, found the bed uncomfortable. It had a ‘smart tv’, well nothing smart about that tv , it kept going off and then on again. In fact it even came on in the middle of the night. Still I thought the price I paid was a bit low for a hotel in this country nowadays, and you...

'Our room was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic, with very nice bacon and eggs. Staff very friendly.'

'Lovely spacious room, brilliant location in the heart of the Forest of Dean (we saw wild boar in broad daylight, just outside the hotel). Excellent meal in the the dining room in the evening of our stay. Online check-in didn't seem to have worked, but this may not have been the hotel's fault.'

'The Sloop Inn is in a convenient location to explore the area. The bedroom was small and had too much furniture; the two chairs took up all the space left in the room to move around, open a suitcase. The only power sockets were behind the bed. In order to plug in my phone and other chargers, I had to pull the bed away from the wall about 15cm in a room that was already too small. The bathroom sink light did not work. The staff were great.'
