'If you are going to San Gimignano for the first time, this is a must place to stay. The hosts greet you when you get there and are on site all day. They knew the town, the places to see and recommended all the right places. They certainly didn’t cause the transportation strike but they solved it for us. 'Outside of city center however it was a nice reprieve from the noise and chaos. there are some wonderful neighborhood gems for restaurants and the bus runs regularly and reliably. Only negative was when we reached out to the host upon arriving at the building, the host took 10 minutes to reply and to remotely open the door which after a long day of travel and standing in 90*+ heat with multiple children outside, it was very frustrating.
