Cosy and welcoming, it felt like your best friend had just left the room. Books, puzzles, a bottle of Waiheke Red wine on the table ... thoughtfully and generously presented.
Loved the house a huge outside deck. Beautifully decorated inside with everything I needed. Was even given a small amount of milk for my two night stayIâd stay again anytime
The cottage was lovely and peaceful and in a great location on the island. It is a very old structure and with that it has its quirks. I do think some additional information on the mechanics of house itself would have been helpful for us and good for future renters, specifically on the use of water of conserving water if needed. During our stay we ran out of water which was quite a surprise, it was fixed promptly. I think overall some of the basic and bonus amenities on the rental listing were a bit disappointing and made us feel we did not get our true moneys worth on rental due to time wasted fixing things or not being able to use cause it was broken. Only one burner worked on the stove range. Washing machine had rotten sitting water when we went to use it, had to clean it before being able to use ourselves. Almost empty dish soap and shampoo/conditioner. Kayak equipment was in shambles had to fix paddle and seat to be able to use. Overall house was littered in spider webs. The additional company of spiders really didn't bother us but can't say the same for future renters. Also there was a dead bird in garage. With that said, we did love the charm of the Bach and Richard was helpful and responsive when water stopped working.
Having the beach basically at the end of the driveway was awesome. Such a lovely spot away from the busier parts of Waiheke. It's a really cute and private location to relax and unwind. If I could change anything it would just be to have a larger bed. In the height of summer it was a bit hot and sweaty sharing the bed.
We were fortunate to be able to book this lovely cottage on the wonderful island of Waiheke. The location was perfect equidistant to the villages of Oneroa and Ostend. A perfect little beach was just below a very steep driveway, which we gradually got used to. The cottage was very comfortable, but the furnishings need to be refurbished. Very comfortable bed! No AC, but was never needed. Good ventilation. Outside deck and excellent umbrella was wonderful place to relax, and eat meals. Great big table and comfortable chairs. We would definitely stay again! The property is quiet and well maintained. But was without water supply from the afternoon before our departure the next day. This was very disappointing given the price we were paying. No shower facility and also no toilet. We used the public toilet at the nearby beach. However, this is about 250 metres away down a VERY steep driveway and then a very challenging walk back up. Especially in the dark on our Saturday night at the house and the next morning. Our requests for attention went unanswered. The gardener trimming the plants on the very steep driveway had asked us on the Friday whether we had water as he had thought the tank was low. Of course, we thought that given the price we were paying for the property we should not have to be responsible for water supply. Very disappointing for an otherwise pleasant property. Rated POOR for Condition because of no water. Michael
