'The Pilsley Inn is the quintessential English country side experience. The room was thoughtfully appointed and way bigger than expected. Cozy bed, nice linens and thoughtful touches everywhere. The staff were delightful, each and every one of them. And the food…omg, the food! So good! We wish we booked more than one night!'

'Pleasant stay …very good room…helpful staff……think could upgrade non cooked breakfast options a little …not too onerous to offer good bread, jams or yoghurt or fruit but evening meals good'

'The view of the dale, valley, mountains and trees is amazing. This hotel sits just by itself but it’s heaven placed! Parking is easy on the street, breaky is included in the price and Sam and the team make you feel at home with good food (it was pie day!), beer and a nice cozy restaurant with a view. Our room was squeaky clean, compact but super comfortable.'

'A nice travellers rest inn, we had a very spacious ground floor room with an equally spacious ensuite, the room was a little noisy early evening, but was generally quiet overnight. Well located in the centre of Bakewell close to all the town has to offer. The adjoining pub has a great atmosphere with excellent food and drinks. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating.'

'Okay for a short stay. Little bit of tlc was needed throughout, otherwise all ok'

'Gezellige pub/hotel met vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Toen we erg vroeg weg moesten stond beneden een ontbijtje voor onderweg klaar. Je kunt er ook lekker eten. Het zat iedere avond vol met locale maar als gast heb je gegarandeerd een tafel. '

'very good staff, superb food, good bed'

'We were a family group of 3 and of different generations. We all found the staff we met to be very helpful and friendly. We had an evening meal after arriving and breakfast in the morning, The food was very nice, large enough portions, with enough choice. We stayed in the quadruple family room, with twin beds and a bunk bed. It was large clean and comfortable. The bunk beds were in a seperate room but were directly connected to the main bedroom. I thought the layout would be particularly good...

'Loud. Incredibly loud. First, they gave no indication that the room I was staying in opened directly onto the street. The door lock was strange, perhaps just something I'm not used to, but I struggled with ensuring that it was locked during the night. (I work in a technical field, I'm not dim, but jeez, I felt stupid) Considering people milling around outside the pub at night were quite drunk, shouty, and possessed of questionable decision making, I ended up putting a chair in front of the door...
