  • Studio Maria at Playa Caribe is a compact, well-appointed studio in Akumal’s Half Moon Bay. Facing the street side of the building, it provides a quiet retreat while keeping you steps away from the beach and pool. The space is furnished with two double beds, a private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, and a kitchenette for simple meal preparation. Accommodating up to four guests, it’s an excellent choice for couples, friends, or small families seeking convenience and comfort.

    Guests have access to Playa Caribe’s signature amenities: oceanfront swimming pool, sun loungers, BBQ grill, outdoor shower, and lush hanging gardens. Daily maid service, purified water, beach towels, and on-site concierge support are included, ensuring a relaxed and easy stay.

    Studio Maria is a beautiful street side studio situated on the garden side of Playa Caribe beachfront condominiums. This well appointed suite offers 2 double beds, a fully equipped kitchenette and A/C. You will love its incredible central location and access to snorkeling on Half Moon Bay.

    This how to travel smartly while on a budget! Playa Caribe Casitas have everything you need for an affordable vacation with all of the amenities you can beach access, swimming pool, A/C, and kitchen.

    This is a streetview studio without direct ocean views, but guests enjoy the same beachfront perks. Half Moon Bay has rocky patches; water shoes are suggested for safe swimming. Daily housekeeping service is provided. Parking, beach towels, and purified water are provided.

    KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Playa Caribe, we left PA with rain and cool temps, and received sunshine and warm temps in Akumal. As we have been coming to the area since 2005, we knew what to expect and how to get around. Yes, things are changing, the climate for one and the amount of tourists. But if you want to enjoy some quieter times and a number of good eating places all within walking or biking distance, give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

The A/C worked great and it was very comfortable. The service was very good and everything we asked about was communicated perfectly. We will definitely stay again. Hopefully next time up on a higher floor to see the beautiful views. The pool area was clean and water was perfect.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been to Akumal many times and love it. This was our first stay at Playa Caribe. Studio Maria is clean nicely decorated. The dehumidifier was greatly appreciated. Plenty of dishes, utensils & serving pieces in the kitchen. The beds are very firm. Studios are on the back side of the building facing the road with only 2 windows ( Kitchen door w/blinds and bathroom which also has a glass frosted door). The lights from the property shined in all night long so if you like to sleep in complete dark good luck. We didn’t hear any traffic noise. The property & beach was clean. Pool is nice overlooking the ocean however I had to clean it with the skimmer when we used it. Plenty of pool floaties on hand. In my opinion the pool lights should to be kept on after dark for safety purposes. Beach is somewhat rocky so water shoes are advised. My husband saw sea turtles, various rays & more while snorkeling in front of the condos. The security guard (Daniel) didn’t do much except set in front of his laptop or sleep in one of the beach loungers instead of walking the grounds with a flash light. The housekeeping service was excellent! Glenn & Barb who own & are residents in Studio Annette were amazing. So very friendly and helpful.All in all it was a very enjoyable stay and we would return to Playa Caribe.

Petit cocon très sympathique avec accès à la piscine et direct après la plage avec son sable blanc et la mer!!! Superbe!!! Endroit de rêve, avec tout près un restaurant très sympathique direct à la plage.., Malheureusement pour nous il y avait énormément d’algues sur la plage et les travailleurs non pas pu fournir à tous ramasser... .juste une question de timing... mais nous avons quand même pu profiter de la piscine et surtout nous reposer! La location est d’une propreté exemplaire, superbe services du personnel, lits hyper confortables, kitchenette avec tout le nécessaire et on a même reçu un panier avec fruits, café etc. à notre arrivée ! Akumal est très bien situé... entre Tulum et Playa del Carmen.. Thanks Polly for everything it was just great!! Sadly we were at the same time with the seaweeds... that’s life! But still we really enjoy it! Your location is just excellent !!! Clean, quiet, accommodations perfect, excellent services from the staffs , with a nice swimming pool, direct at the beach!!! What do you need more??? Nothing If I go back I will for sure check if it’s available 😍 Thanks one more time for the basket ( fruits, cafe, etc. )! Good location, management -- dark inside

We really enjoyed the location and thought Playa Caribe was a clean, well maintained complex with excellent management communication/advice from Augustine. We rented bikes from Playa Caribe that were great for getting into Akumal. We brought out own snorkels and were able to snorkel off of the beach in half moon bay (we would recommend water shoes for half moon bay). The downsides for us were that this unit is rather cave-like with the only windows being on the entry door and in the shower. Also we wish we would have sprung for a larger unit as it was really kind of cramped for our family of four. Could definitely work well for a couple or for a short stay.

Everything great except...

The people are wonderful. The place is sweet but there are no windows. That would normally be a deal breaker for me. Some people may not care. Outdoor spaces are terrific so I tried to be outside all the time. Otherwise casita is well decorated and has everything and is really well run.

Great location!!

Everything you need is already supplied!! Daily maid service if you want. Beach is very close. Just turn lef out of the door and go up the stairs. Right there!! Pool was clean and plenty of chairs on the beach. Highly recommend!!

LOVED our stay at Casita Maria

We are so happy we were able to stay at Casita Maria! It was so charming, and the location was unbelievable! Right on the beach in Half Moon Bay! Beautiful, and great snorkeling too. We saw stingrays, turtles, and a lot of fish! We loved it! And there was no sargassum. The beach was perfect!!! For the price, this little gem is fantastic! It's not huge... it's like a hotel room with a bonus kitchen. Everything worked great, and it was nice and clean. Patricia did a wonderful job cleaning our room each day. Augustin was very nice, although we didn't talk to him much because we didn't have any issues. I definitely recommend a stay at charming little Casita Maria! Oh, and don't forget to use the dehumidifier in the corner of the room. It made a huge difference (we didn't realize it was there until halfway through our trip). Thanks for a great place to stay, Chris and Polly!
