Chicago: Kindvriendelijke vakanties

This hotel is truly beautiful — Art Deco style, full of character and soul. The lobby is stunning, and the corridors feel like they transport you to a different era, with elegant marble floors… It could easily be a museum. It’s located downtown, and many sights are within walking distance. The subway and bus stops are also nearby. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom could use renovation. However, it’s a large hotel, and that comes with some downsides. There was a long queue for both check-in and check-out, as not all service desks were staffed. We stayed for four nights, but had to downgrade our room because it still wasn’t ready — even at 5 PM. There was no refund, and as compensation we were offered a free breakfast, which turned out to be just for one day. Very disappointing. Upon check-out, the bills I received showed additional charges of $352.26 for taxes and parking. However, my credit card was charged a total of €495.88 — significantly more than expected. I sent multiple messages via Expedia, but the hotel never responded. Since I was traveling through the U.S., I didn’t have the time to call and follow up properly. I sincerely hope the hotel will look into this and respond accordingly.

Really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Rooms were spacious and apart from some noise from the streets pretty good isolation. Breakfast was spot on. Large choice of eggs, bagels, sausage, pancakes etc. Staff at the breakfast area very helpful and very friendly. Hotel is located in a buzzing area with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Only negative I have to mention is that the first 3 days rooms were not cleaned automatically and we did not receive new/fresh towels. We had to go to front desk and ask for this. For the rest would definitely recommend this hotel.

Personeel was zeer vriendelijk, accommodatie is centraal gelegen, ontbijt was zeer goed en de kamers waren vaak schoon. Alleen de zwembad was gesloten en ik had deze accommodatie juist gekozen voor de zwembad.

Had a great 2 night stay.
