« The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. « Location excellent, staff well trained and excellent. Room was very good. Outside area had great views but some stained seat covers and lots of cracked tiles. Spa was a waste of time as very busy and ended up just sitting in pool as all the jacuzzi areas full. Spa had lots of loose tiles around pool too. Breakfast was excellent. Cheeky £12 per day add on for parking your car in already overpriced hotel. Not quite 5 star but I think this is a self awarded rating and not AA affiliated. »

« Absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is lovely, the spa is amazing, definitely worth booking in for the full spa 3 hours, the food is good but to be honest it’s the staff that make it. Such a lovely bunch! »

« Room was on the roadside so no view and lower than the road so.o0eming the blinds meant people being able to see down into the room. Staff were friendly but their system for checking was odd, just a section at the end of the bar and online check in didn't work.so had to re do all the details. Breakfast system to order gluten free or vegetarian was to order at the bar not in the kitchen and then they brought it to you but you had to go back to the kitchen to get the rest of the meal. « Only small gripe was the shower head had a bit of black mould on it and one roller blind came away whilst I was closing it. Luckily my husband was able to clip it back in quickly. Room and bedding both clean, grounds beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was fantastic, quality hot cooked breakfast and very pleasant staff. We would visit again, thank you. »

« The hotel is on a quiet lane close to the high street in Windermere. It is run by people who are obviously very experienced in hospitality and clearly responsive to what their guests require. The staff are friendly and helpful. The property is attractive and well maintained, also with a lovely garden where guests can sit. « We came back late from a long walk in the Lakes and realize arriving in our room that they gave us a room with no blind or curtain !!!! We rang the Reception at 11pm they said someone was coming but nobody showed up. The following morning when we wanted to record a formal claim the receptionist just told us "sorry" It is a shame !!! Avoid this hotel ! You pay a high rate for the location but the rest is shameful !! »
