The Space:

September mornings on Donner Lake are the quiet ones. Steam coming off the water, aspens starting to turn up the pass, coffee on the deck before anyone else is up. By evening the fire pit is going and somebody's lost three straight rounds of skee ball.



This lakefront home sleeps 16 across five bedrooms and four bathrooms, and the layout actually works for a group that size. The open main level ties the chef's kitchen, dining area and living room together around the fireplace, so nobody gets stranded cooking alone while everyone else has fun. Downstairs is where the noise happens: arcade games, skee ball, a wet bar with a beverage fridge, and a home gym with a Peloton and weight system for anyone still committed to their routine on vacation!

The hot tub runs year round, which is exactly what you want after a fall hike or a first turns day in December. The gas fire pit handles the evenings, the built in BBQ handles dinner, and when the lake warms back up the kayaks and open water swimming are right there.



Built for big families and multi generational groups, and we keep a Pack n Play and high chair here so you're not hauling them up the pass. There are stairs between levels, including down to the game room and Bedroom 5, so keep that in mind for anyone with mobility concerns.



Our local team is close by throughout your stay, so you can put the phone down and just enjoy the mountains.



Guest Access:

Guests have the run of the entire house through easy keypad entry, including the game room, gym and all outdoor spaces. The only spots off limits are the locked owner's closet and the boat lift.



The Neighborhood:

You're on the south shore of Donner Lake, tucked right between downtown Truckee and some of the best skiing in California.



Outdoors: Trailheads are minutes away, and fall is prime time for hiking and biking around Donner Summit before the snow flies. Donner Memorial State Park sits just around the lake.



Skiing: About 20 to 25 minutes to Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley, host of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Sugar Bowl and Boreal are roughly 10 to 15 minutes up Donner Pass, and Northstar is about 20 to 25 minutes.



Food & drink: Historic downtown Truckee is about 10 minutes away, with restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and a great main street for an afternoon wander.



On the water: Donner Lake is right out the door, and the north and west shores of Lake Tahoe are about 20 to 25 minutes south.



Groceries and essentials are about 10 minutes away in Truckee.



Getting Around:

A car is the way to go up here. Fall driving is easy, and from roughly November through April we'd strongly recommend AWD or 4WD with snow tires, since Donner Pass gets serious weather and chain controls on I-80 are a normal part of winter. Uber and Lyft do operate in the Truckee and North Tahoe area, but availability thins out at night and during storms, so don't plan on ride-share as your only option.



Other Things to Note:

Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM.



The minimum age for check-in is 21 years old.



Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.



This property is 100% smoke-free.



No pets allowed.



We kindly ask that guests refrain from hosting parties or events at the property. We aim to maintain a respectful environment for our neighbors.



An exterior security camera is installed at the front entrance of the property for quality and security monitoring purposes.



Outdoor furniture and lake gear such as kayaks are offered seasonally. During the winter months, the outdoor dining chairs and cushions are stored away and are not available for guest use.



The boat lift is not available for guest use.



Parking fits up to 6 cars total, 2 in the garage and 4 in the driveway per permitting restrictions. Street parking is also allowed.



You may spot local birds and other wildlife around the property, which is part of the fun of being up here.



GUEST VERIFICATION: To help ensure a smooth and secure stay for all guests, the primary guest listed on the reservation may be asked to complete a quick verification process within 48 hours of booking, depending on the platform used to book the reservation.



Prior to check-in, guests may also be asked to sign a Rental Agreement that includes agreeing to our rental terms and conditions and, on certain booking platforms, providing a valid government-issued ID and matching credit card before arrival.



Included with your booking is our damage waiver coverage, which helps protect against accidental, self-reported damage during your stay when reported prior to check-out.
