The apartment is on the top corner of the building and the view is stunning. It felt very private. We loved the beach and it was much less busy than other beaches in the area over the busy new year. The owner helped with a couple of small issues very promptly and the apartment is clean. We would rent it again. You will need a car to get to the grocery store and restaurants.

The condo was amazing! Everything like the photos, and beach access is just a short walk. It takes a while from the gate to get to the condo, but that's the way it is for anyone going to the beach. And, it's very, very secure. There are multiple security check points along the way, because there is a public beach on the other side of the peninsula, and all of the guards are extremely friendly and helpful. Check in was easy, and Pablo went above and beyond on communicating with us about questions and even provided advice for grocery stores and restaurants in the area. There is an AutoMercado in Herradura that is well stocked, and there is a smaller grocery store not far from there there has a lot of things. You really don't need to stock up in San Jose. About 100 sodas in the area, so you can eat cheap and big. Skip the expensive tourist trap restaurants and chains! Very convenient location to outdoor activities/tours; we never had to drive more than 30 mins.The condo is an easy drive from SJO, and they have built a new Welcome Center right at Crocodile Bridge by the Tarcoles River along the way to the condo. Definitely park at the Welcome Center and take the short walk on the bridge to view the crocs. Make sure to go in the Welcome Center, you will really be surprised! The views from the condo are breathtaking, it really is paradise. The beach and water were incredible! I would go back to Casa Mare Blu!

Location, view, & property are all very unique & outstanding! Modern updates & all very nice! Make sure you have a car or rent a golf cart from a local company inside of Punta Leona as the roads are very rough & hilly. It is a special place & you will be very happy to experience it if you book it!

Wonderful Condo

The condo is as advertised - spacious, clean and with a 5th floor ocean view. Communication with Pablo was outstanding and check-in was easy - once you get past all the gate guards! (The guards do check the names of all members of your party against a list Pablo has to provide them.) The people at the property were also very friendly and helpful.As others have noted, and it's worth repeating, the condo itself is about 20 minutes from the highway, deep inside the Punta Leona complex. If "getting away from it all" is what you want, this location will work well for you. Just load-up on the supplies you need before going in.The beach itself is not accessible directly from the property, but is a short walk down the road. Getting back to the condo may be a bit of a challenge for some, as it is up a very steep hill. I had to drive some of my family up from the beach.All-in-all, we had a nice stay and the hosts were outstanding.

Great hosts, great view

I am giving this 5 stars because the hosts were amazing and the view was phenomenal; however there are some things to note. The showers have lukewarm water (although every sink has hot water). This was very disappointing after being out on the beach and hiking all day as all we wanted was a hot shower. The water pressure was not great in the showers. There is also only one TV in the living room and it has a line through it but not that noticeable. We tried to connect to it with our iPad as it’s a smart TV, but it wouldn’t work so we ended up just using the iPad the whole time (could have been an error with our iPad). Otherwise, the stay was absolutely wonderful!! The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds are very comfortable, the views are AMAZING. The hike to the beach is only 5 minutes but walking back uphill is not for the faint of heart (although I enjoyed it just being outside)! Our power went out one night for a few hours and I messaged the hosts in the middle of the night and they responded within an hour, I was VERY impressed. The hosts always made sure we had everything we needed.

Nice Ten Days in Costa Rica

Great stay at this property. Host Pablo was fantastic. A couple of VERY minor issues (how to operate the oven) were resolved quickly. We agree with most of the other comments regarding this unit. Fantastic view. Reasonable walk to a gorgeous beach. Will recommend.

A Premier Stay in a Premier Place

First Costa Rica is amazing. Second, this condo let you really enjoy this place. Very spacious, BIG VIEW as pictures accurately represent. It's on 5th floor but elevator was very efficient. Everyone was very helpful and friendly neighbors. You're off the beaten track but you're here to be out of the hustle and bustle. Only trouble was finding the correct entrance with is very visible as soon as you find it, but finding it ... We would absolutely stay there again!

Stunning views

We had not been to Costa Rica at all before this trip, so everything was new for us. We all feel that finding this property made the trip special and memorable. The balcony is very large -- even larger than the pictures can show. We spent so much time there -- watching the calm ocean in the morning, watching the pairs Scarlet Macaws fly to and from all day, eating outside, watching the sunset -- and just standing there mesmerized by the beauty of the ocean, the lush hillside, and the beach... it just made it all worthwhile. As others has mentioned -- to get this view means you will be driving up into the hillside, and a good distance in from the main road. It takes about 14-16 minutes to each the property from the main entrance -- with two security checkpoints along the way. All worth it for this view! On a practical note: the property is as it appears in the photos. For those new to Costa Rica, this means you will have to adjust to not being able to flush toilet paper in the toilet -- at all. Water pressure lower than we are accustomed... again -- all worth it for the view and the experience of Costa Rica, especially at this property!

Our first time to Costa Rica and did not disappoint, the condo was amazing views and close to the beach yes you have a steep hill but not horrible. It is a ways into the condo from the highway so make sure you have what you need and are wanting quite and relaxing time you’ll find no night life or restaurants and bars here 😊

Just Breathtaking!!

Our stay at the condo at Punta Leona was one of our best vacations yet! The large rooms and kitchen and the spacious porch with the incredible views of the beach and sunsets made us only want to stay longer after 10 nights. Pablo and Marina took great care to check in with us to make sure everything was OK. We would definitely return there!!

Top Notch

This was our third time staying in the Golden Reef condos. Needless to say, we really like the building and area. This particular condo is a top floor unit with phenomenal views. The enormous balcony has ample space for everyone to relax, read, eat, etc. The interior is also very large and equipped with everything that we needed. One other major perk of staying here is having direct access to Playa Blanca. This is the best beach in Costa Rica and a great beach for children. Can’t wait to come back…

Beautiful Property - Amazing View

Beautiful house with an amazing view. Big rooms, amazing living room, kitchen with all that you need and amazing balcony to sit and enjoy the ocean view. You just have to take in account that you need to walk around 300m to go to the nearest beach(an amazing beach by the way) and there is very steep slope in the way, nothing to be worry but to considerer if you are traveling with someone that need to take this in consideration. I would definitely recommend this place... actually I would like to be back soon.

The condo was gorgeous and clean! Well equipped!! Amazing ocean view! Communication with property manager excellent! The only bummer is you don’t have access to playa Blanca parking lots or main entrance unless you are a punta leona member.. this can be inconvenient if you are expecting to go to the beach often.

Beautiful Place only overshadowed by the Views

This was our first stay in Costa Rica and it didn't disappoint. The listing description and pictures were extremely accurate of the property. We came with our two daughters and they enjoyed having their own rooms and space. We took a picture off the balcony each morning and sunset because we couldn't get over the views. The Playa Blanca beach is a short 5 minute walk (however a 10 minute walk back due to the steep hills) and is one of the nicer public beaches in Costa Rica. We went to the beach on a weekday and it was very quiet, but also on a weekend and it was noticeably busier but it didn't feel crowded. We also felt very safe in the water as the waves were strong enough to have fun but weren't too scary. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you will need, however, be aware that it is a good 15-minute drive into the complex from the highway so plan accordingly. We drove directly from San Jose Airport (about 90 minutes) and were a little tired after our flight however we regretted not having picked up groceries prior to settling in to our place as it is quite secluded from some of the amenities you might like to have. The nearest 'supermercado' is in Herradura about a 10 minute drive from the entrance of the Punta Leona entrance. Our family would highly recommend this place for your stay. Juan was a pleasure to correspond with giving helpful and timely suggestions whenever asked. We are already looking at when we could come back!!
