The location and layout were great and we would definitely return. The check-in process and communication were excellent. The only feedback we have is that the ant issue in the kitchen is real in spite of us not leaving any food out and some maintenance is needed in the upstairs bathrooms as one of the doors has broken hinges and doesnât close and a shower door is off the track. Overall, the property is beautiful and we enjoyed our time there.
Upon arrival, I will say the house is a lot more warn and used than the pictures portrayed however nothing that hindered its functionality. We booked this house so that it could accommodate all of my fairly large family and that it did. Plenty of space for everyone. The only draw back is it must be a tanked water heater rather than a tankless so most of us took cold showers the first day but we quickly worked out a loose shower schedule and all was well. Again, if youâre expecting a pristine/brand new home, this is not it. However, If you come with the expectation of what Sullivanâs island used to be and still remains (especially on the isle of palms side) which is an old beach town that has history and is meant for relaxation and offers everything you need and nothing that you donât and you leave your pretentiousness at the door then you will be most satisfied. A thing here or there needed some attention for which the host was very responsive and timely in getting the little hiccups resolved. Overall, especially for the price, Iâd say it was a lovely stay however If you are or youâre going with an OCD pessimistic person then you/they will have a field day here⊠just something to keep in mind.
This is a uniquely situated property on Sullivans Island, which has very few short term rentals. The home has great views and large outdoor areas. It is a few minutes from the business district at Sullivans Island or Isle of Palms. This is a classic beach house with an old school vibe. Our families really enjoyed our stay.
Overall our stay was amazing! The location was perfect and the A/C worked almost to well! The house did come with Ants and a few bugs in the kitchen. One thing we wish is that the pool had lights so we could of enjoyed it in the evenings.
My wife walked in and within 10 minutes joked she would need a strong drink to get used to the house, but the joke lost its humor during our stay. Each individual issue on its own would be forgivable if it were only 1, but collectively they really created a terrible experience.
Ice makers donât work on ice machine or fridge. Stovetop doesnât work. Freezer door doesnât close properly and barely keeps ice cream frozen. I told the property manager about ice and range, neither were fixed during our stay. Our mattress had a blood stain on it, visible through the sheets. Millions of ants and a huge cockroach were seen & killed by us during our stay. The ping pong table under the house was filthy with a huge layer of dirt. There are no smoke or c02 detectors in several bedrooms which is a safety hazard & likely violation of rental laws. Our code didnât work on arrival. The company has automated responses & âcustomer serviceâ which sends you pointless messages multiple times per day. No hotpads. House hasnât been painted in years, with wall stains and rotting wood. 2 doorknobs fell off - the front door and a back door. Rusty hinges and metal throughout the house. Cabinets are beat to hell. The fridge doesnât even have shelves. A huge brown stain around the base of one toilet on the floor. Blinds are broken and missing. View of a bridge, not open water.
This house has been ridden hard and put away wet. Time to put it down, or invest some $$ in a maintenance team and improvements.
We were here for our med school reunion. The house was perfect for our group of 8. Views of Breech Inlet and the Isle of Palms were tranquil. We saw several dolphins from the porch. Despite not having great weather for the weekend, we were able to walk on the beach. Sullivanâs Island is familiar to all of our group and it did not disappoint. There were minor issues when we got to the house but Tyler was very helpful and accommodating. The interior of this home is quite nice. All of the beds were very comfortable. The pine floors are beautiful for the age of the home. I do wish that the homeowner would see fit to do some repair work to the outside of the home and pick up the trash at the stairway/deck off of the back of the home. I drove by this property months ago (after weâd rented) and seeing the outside I was concerned about how the interior might look. First impressions are important. In spite of that, we would absolutely stay here again.
The prime location of this home is second to none. With plenty of off-street parking and easy access, the back steps lead right down to the sand. The pool was pristine (but chilly in February). The grill included not one but two propane tanks. The linens were plentiful. The wide plank wood floors are beautiful. Very relaxing!
This was our second stay at this property for our early family Christmas gathering. The house and the location are perfect, the hosts are available and accommodating, and we appreciate the convenience of services offered by AvantStay.
