A wonderful off-the grid weekend

This property is the nicest vacation home I have had the pleasure of staying in. Kitchen was beyond well stocked, beds were comfortable, the list goes on-and-on. The location is blissful and quiet. A wonderful place to spend an off the grid weekend with family and friends.

Stayed here with some college friends and all our little kids. Every room has an en-suite bathroom, so every family had some privacy and our own space. But we spent most of the time hanging in the living room and the back deck. We also enjoyed the fire pit for s’mores and used the grill too. The house is in a great location. We did some walks and a few of us used the tennis courts across the street. Plus we were such a close drive to Gualala that running out for groceries or grabbing a bite to eat was easy.

Relax and stay a while.

Loved this place. Beautiful property with every possible kitchen accessory/house amenity you could want. So relaxing to hang out in multiple spaces, and every guest had their own bathroom. Literally is the most dog welcome property that we have stayed at. Definitely will be returning.

The four bedrooms are comfortable - two have ocean views, all have attached bathrooms. The amenities are wonderful for a large group - coffee makers, lots of large pots and pans, really all the appliances that are needed with large fridges and plenty of baking goods. There is a nice courtyard in front and a deck in back, perfect for hanging out together.

Great place to celebrate an 80th birthday!

This property was amazing! It fit our large family, ranging in all ages, perfectly, along with the dogs. The kitchen had every pot, pan, bowl, and utensil you needed to cook a variety of dinners, including a birthday cake. The court yard was perfect to BBQ as well as accommodate the dogs without having to worry about them running off. The views were amazing! There was an intense storm but we managed a few walks down the trails which were beautiful. Loved how every room had its own bathroom. Would definitely come back! Thank you Charlie’s Retreat!

Location was fantastic (short walk to the bluff trails and just across the street from the Del Mar Rec Center), the house was incredibly well-stocked, and the rooms were very comfortable. We very much appreciated the ready-instructions for anything that was not intuitive. All in all, Charlie's Retreat was a DREAM and we felt very fortunate to enjoy the week there.

It's a challenge to find a four bedroom house, especially one that is in beautiful condition and with lovely views. This is a winner. Loved it and would rent it again. Kitchen is very well equipped, though a little tight for more than 2 chefs. Flow of house works very well. Bedrooms are spacious. Bathrooms are updated. Outdoor spaces are excellent. A couple of small items that malfunctioned during our stay (a towel rod, a drawer) but nothing unusual for a rental property.

Vacation homes aren't always as good in reality as they are in the photos, but Charlies Retreat did not disappoint. Its a short walk to the trail heads and even short walk to Del Mar rec center - a huge plus. It's also quite private - we never saw a neighbor while there. The interior is exactly as pictured and though the renovations are older they were clearly well done/timeless and the furniture has mostly been updated making the house feel very fresh and high end. It's filled with interesting books and the kitchen is extremely well stocked. The fireplace was not working while we were there and the outdoor fireplace overlooking the ocean looks like it's seen better days, but otherwise the house was immaculate. We would absolutely return and loved our stay there!

Paradise at Charlie’s Retreat

It was everything we could have hoped, and as beautiful as the pictures online. The house is well planned and laid out for a lot of people. The furniture is comfortable and convenient. The kitchen is well-supplied. We did 100% of our cooking and eating at home and never ate out because we had two small children with us. The location couldn’t be better, with the swimming pool across the street and easy access to the coast, the cliffs, the beaches. We watched birds, wildlife (even foxes), and stars from the back deck and even from the living room. The Beach Rental staff was very friendly and helpful. It really could not have been better.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 6 Stars! I don’t normally give detailed reviews, but I’ve stayed in many Sea Ranch rentals and this is far and away the best. We were a house of 8 people for a team meeting – all with comfortable beds and enough space to host 12 for dinner. The house was spotless, bright, and sunny, and the open living/dining/kitchen area was perfect for relaxing with a book, looking out at a stunning view, and entertaining nearby friends. Beds were extremely comfortable – note two bunk rooms with a top bunk that was actually cozy. The kitchen is better stocked than my own home with all the cookware and serving utensils I needed, including a Breville Expresso Maker which churned out the best home coffee I’ve had in a long time! The location is excellent – calming views of open grassland with the ocean in the background, just a 7 mins walk down to the coastal trail, across the street to morning yoga, swimming, and tennis through Del Mar Community Center and just a quick 5 mins drive to Gualala. It is hard to beat the comfort, cleanliness, views, and location of Charlie's Retreat. This is my absolute favorite Sea Ranch home away from home and it will be first on my list on my next visit.
